This is absolute gem of a video game. That's cant be overstated. Forget the launch, like No Mans Sky, the launch is in the past and in no way reflects this game as it is today. The world created here is ..its kind of breathtaking the amount of small details on display here. The story and voice acting is phenomenal , the mechanics are great, the gunplay and the different ways to approach combat is also fantastic. Character leveling system takes a bit of time and its kind of a slow burn of sorts but when you get going ; you definitely feel it as you unlock new abilities and grow. Just so much imagination and care has gone into creating this world to get lost in; Its hard not to get lost in it. That my friend makes a peak video game. Immersion, fun gameplay, superb mechanics, great story telling, great voice actors its escapism at its best and that's the kind of thing we desperately need more of in video games. Which brings me to my next point: Its kind of sad in a way; this is probably the last great game from CDPR for a while unless theirs a culture shift within the dev studio away from the ESG fueled stuff they have embraced. I hope for the best with CDPR but usually these ESG types for whatever reason don't like the very customers they rely on to sell products, make money and stay in business. Primary concern for these folks is always pushing some weird ideology , its the strangest thing in the world for a company as you would think they would prefer NOT to alienate over half of their potential profit (customers) but welcome to the end of the year 2024 where ideology is more important than products, customers, profit and even the company...at least, that's how it looks. So lets raise a glass choom and choombas to what was and the hope we find our way back here eventually. Until then, Witcher 3 and CP2077 stands as a testament to how great the studio can be and how we all should remember it.
Great Atmosphere, Even the sound of rain can be heard hitting metal roofs, abandon vehicles etc.. The lighting is phenomenal, high resolution textures abound in many places. Game itself as pretty engaging ;it sucks you into this world and doesnt really let you go. Lots of talk about bugs and performance. I have a 5950x , 64gb of ram and a 3080. Using DLSS (Quality) and FSR Frame Gen on 1440 , Epic settings does net you a pretty solid 60+ FPS it dips to mid 50s here and there. There are some issues that need sorted out; most recent patch does a lot with soft / hard locks, memory leaks and plethora of other things with balancing but still some glaring issues remain with the a.i and some QoL features like being able to see what type of ammo you have loaded would be nice . Artifacts are a bit mid (so far) English voice acting is...servicable at best. It does the job. Facial animations are a bit..lackluster. All in all if you have some decent hardware; its a worthy of the STALKER title, especially when the A.I gets fixed up. 4-5 for me.
A absoulutley fantastic and faithful update to 3 classic games. Even though those people over at Crystal Dynamics just HAD to try and crap all over it by inserting a trigger warning thats absoultley hypocritical of themselves but on the whole just ridiculously obtuse. Crystal Dynamics had nothing to do with this game; at all. Shouldnt even have their name on it. Embracer needs to go head and sink that battleship. What theve done to this character and her story is just appauling and these great remasters just remind you of that fact! The hired actual real fans for this remaster to help ; thats awesome. I say long live Lara Croft; one day someone will bring you back for a brand new adventure that will be a testiment and compliment to the IPs original plot and art, until then we have these absolute gems!
As of v1.6 the game is fantasic. Sure theres still lots of things on the table that need implemented but lots of bugs have been squashed and some are still present but the game is stable; and provides a enjoyable expierence. Obviously some things left on the wishlist table: More depth to npc's at least more basic conversations. More immersive eating and drinking spots. More rommancable npcs and characters. More choices all around really. The issue is ; the freaking world built here is phenomonal and the story is outstanding its just you step foot in night city and you expect a world full of immersive activity and yet while its there for the big set pieces its absent in mundane activities and this is a world built so well you just expect it and since its not present it rips you out of the game a bit. Had this thing stayed in the oven until the devs could realize all this ; simply put this wouldve been the best game ever created. You can see the potential and I think thats what is so disappointing about it. Picking this up at ver 1.6 is a good buy. You really are missing out not playing it even with the bugs still left and the immersive depths left on the dev table. But hey; theres mods..
