Do not let anyone fool you into thinking this is Diablo 2 with a space skin. It couldn't be further from the truth. My opinions (based on limited game time, made it to max level twice): 1. There is not enough varied attacks to hold my interest. (aka you only basic attacking with different weapons the entire time, no 'special' moves, or spells, or flashy screen AoE moves for example) 2. Races have too little of difference in gameplay to consider them 'classes', but it does change gameplay nonetheless. 3. No main story, only random/side quests. (imagine a GTA/ElderScrolls with only random/side quests and no main story or plot.) 4. The 'rpg' in this, feels like the scaling is off, as often you can die in 1 hit, even at max level. Definately needs some fine tuning. 5. I do like the limited non-weapon equipment. (engines, reactors, etc., honestly the devs could of done more here, but this is a plus in my book still) 6. I hated how you can 'lose/gameover' and still be alive... maybe I just couldn't figure out how to turn off 'alternative win/lose' conditions. I wanted to play until I beat it. And many of you will have this happen to you, which makes it less rpg in my eyes.
Don't let all those glowing, high, and positive reviews fool you. What this game is in a nutshell: It is just battle after battle to you beat it. That's it, no depth, no soul, no charm, no replay. My dislikes/cons: No lore, no cities, no story, no plot, no shops, no interaction with npcs. No items of any kind besides the 4 accessory types. Game is far too short, game ends in mini-cliff hanger. Finite experience points, moot point as you will hit max level long before end game. Puzzles! For how much this game doesn't have makes its high price point a big rip-off. Good points: Battles are pretty varied and decent amount of tactics. Pretty good looking game. Unique characters. Try it for yourself if you don't believe me, waste your money. Go with other better games, like the much bigger Dragon Age: Origins. Ps. This is my first review on gog, which I own over 350 gog games, I just had to voice my disappointment as a gamer with 25+ years of gaming.
