Nice artwork - The ONLY positive thing about this excuse for a PC game. 1. Singular non intuitive path controlled storyline. Pure political Wokism. 2. Controlled (one narrative) dialogue-throughout (just like in a Dictatorship). 3. If you miss one turn, one click, no matter how irrelevant to the story, you may not advance. 4. Reduced to watching a Video run through of the 'game' for a few points. 5. The entire Canadian Parliament, and Prime Minister, just gave a Standing Ovation to a NAZI. Show this 'game' to them. Editions # 1 & 2 of the Syberia series were INFINITELY superior, in their story, story balance, and their puzzles. Edition # 3, while not as well produced, also is far superior to this # 4. Sokol, the originator of the Syberia series, died before most of Syberia 4 was begun. This trash should not be blamed on him. Bought on sale. Refunded.
The designer of Age of Empires, Bruce Shelley, once said that if a game is not fun in the first 15 minutes of play, it is worthless. This FOGE is no fun, except, possibly for a few masochists. Unbalanced unplayable factions, and huge programmed cheats render this unplayable. And: the option of playing the battles on a group of mostly flat squares, (must purchase another pathetic excuse for a game), is pathetically stupid and was surpassed a century ago by the Civil War Generals, and a dozen other early games, that creatively utilized hexes, ridge/mountain heights, and river barriers. Bought game on sale, no big deal, it is uninstalled. Back to the Total Wars.
Awful Battle System. 1. Turn Based - OK 2. Squares - Hex set up better for Turn Based 3. Some Balance - Roman Legions most powerful - Historically Correct. Conversely, Persian Cavalry overpowered. How did Alexander ever defeat the Persians? 4. Developers should have - Begun with American Civ War Gens I & II Turn Based combat of 25 yrs ago (and improved from there). 5. Hoplite units overly restricted. Were able to change their direction & run when well led. Ask those who fought at Platea. 6. Heaviest Criticism: Spartans are seriously Underpowered. In Movie "300" they could jump 20 feet. 7. Niddling criticism: Game has no option for a Strategic (empire/nation Building) portion. [Do not wish to hear about the Empire game, which is Europa with a paint job.] A few will like this awkward turn based fashioning of ancient combat. They are foreign agents & should be arrested.
1. Allies Subs cannot use Torpedoes with last patch - 1.5. Axis subs may use torpedoes - unfair advantage. Its a BUG introduced by the 1.5 patch. 2. ai spies mostly succeed - despite having only 10-13% chance of success (the numbers do not add up). 3. Germany is WAAAAYY overpowered. It produces huge quantities of planes & Soldiers (at NO COST). 4. The earlier HOI 2, plays better, has more balance, but at sacrifice of terrible Map & OLD design. 5. France withdraws its entire army from Africa. 6. There is no BEF (no Brits to help France). Churchill is turning in his grave. 7. No American Troops to help liberate France, (1944, or any other year). At times a huge stack of American troops will appear in ALBANIA (& NOT MOVE OFF THE BEACH). 8. The Maginot Line is useless, as Troops are triggered to attack each other, DO NOT DEFEND. 9. I am aware that some like this game. They usually play Germany, & brag about winning. 10. ADVERTISED - WW I Scenario is unfinished. Playing as Italy, when I joined the Entente, The French & Germans ceased fighting & the Germans/Austrians combined to attack Italy. I relocated to New Jersey. 11. I am getting tired - You finish this list.
