It's works fine in Windows 10 and 11.
As I mentioned in a review for Commandos Behind Enemy Lines, this game works for Windows 10 and 11. For this game, install ddrawcompat and compatibility improves significantly. Also, disable compatibility mode and run as administrator; it won't be necessary for both games. The best version of the game is this one.
People saying it doesn't work, that it doesn't start on Windows 10 and 11. It's a lie, I dedicated myself to fixing the game, it just puts an "m" in "commands.exe" leaving it as: "commands.exe", set that executable as default, install ddrawcompat and it's done. The game never crashes and worked on my Windows 10 and on a Windows 11 laptop. The GOG version is the best.
I'm actually glad I was able to buy this title from my childhood, it was the game that introduced me to FPS games, and I'm glad it includes 2 more expansions to play, (expansions I never played, I found out about them much later). I was able to modify it to adapt it to my PC in terms of graphics and performance and now it plays wonderfully. Thanks GOG for including it here.
