The voice acting, animation and atmosphere were perfect. The game really gave the player the feel of being Sherlock Holmes. The puzzles and mini-games were generally good, and most had the option of being skipped (avoiding a common failing with many adventure games which stop a player from progressing if the mouse is not clicked fast enough the right way). The story was entertaining and thought-provoking. The process of putting the clues together was good. The game was quite clever in allowing the player to come to very different conclusions depending on the way the player interpreted the evidence. A highly recommended game!
A fantastic giant robot / battle mech strategy game. The best since Mechcommander 2. Some initial bugs (game sometimes not saving) were overcome after help from GOG Support (right click the Battletech file from the game's folder location and run as administrator - fixed the save problem and reduced load times). The core of the gameplay is excellent - build up your ship and battle mechs while managing cashflow by taking on missions. The combat missions are excellently done - great sound, mech movement and battle effects. However, the game lost a star because of the poor plot in the campaign. The basic plot here is similar to Thronebreaker: The Witcher Tales (an ousted ruler fighting a campaign to regain her throne), but lacks most of the suspense, interest, choice and character and plot development of Thronebreaker. If only they had Thronebreaker's writers writing the plot for the campaign, this would have been a 5 star game. Overall, still a game well worth playing.
Great space-sim action. The space combat is fun, graphically impressive and the best since Privateer and Freelancer. However, it's not much of a trading game since it is much easier to make money as a bounty hunter. The settings are also very generic and fast become boring (each system has a trade station and other similar ingredients). There is no real differing character, atmosphere or feel to the different systems (other than the space stations and ships for each race look different). It starts out being fun to play, but ends up being boring very quickly as missions and tasks tend to be fairly repetitive (except for the campaign missions). I gave up playing the game halfway when one of the campaign missions put me in a massive, maze-like factory (without an automap) and had me flying around aimlessly looking for the "yellow door". Such a shame as the developers had the space combat part down great - if only they had put more effort into the other aspects of the game.
