Tacoma

Perfectly functional on non-Ubuntu.

First of all, this game is a delightful experience. Fantastic storytelling and atmosphere. As someone who gets bored within a half hour, with ~9 out of 10 videogames I play these days, I have found Tacoma geniunely enjoyable throughout. As an aside, a great big thanks t Fullbright for a perfectly functional GNU/Linux port, and for demonstrating, in undeniable terms, that it is indeed possible to create a Unity game that works on more than one single distribution. Also for rebindable controls, which is a big deal for us lefties. I wonder if Mr. Ryan Gordon was involved here? At any rate, I recommend this to anyone who enjoys story driven, atmospheric, or space themed adventure games.

Baldur's Gate 2 Complete

The greatest CRPG ever made.

There was a poster a few pages back that asked for this to be compared to Diablo 3. Perhaps that's why the newer generation of gamers don't seem to enjoy this game. I've personally beaten it 4-5 times back in the day, and played with at least 10 different characters just to see what else I could experience. This is, without question, the most immersive CRPG of all time. The graphics may be dated, and the controls clumsier than modern games, but I don't see why an RPG fan would think the amount of text you read takes away from this game. There were many 15+ minute segments in Mass Effect or Dragon Age where you did nothing but talk. How is this different? As others before me said, the complexity of the game contributes directly to the depth and immersion. Once you get the hang of it, I doubt you would enjoy the greatly simplified rulesets of newer games as you do now. Well, I don't suppose many younger gamers would take the time to do that, but I, for one, would pay pay a lot of money should another game of this caliber ever be made. If you do try it, give it a little time. I bet once you're hooked, you won't be able to stop playing it for a good long time.
