Warcraft: Orcs and Humans

Sadly does not hold up well

While the game does have its strength in story, time has not treated this classic all too well. The controls are outdated and frustrating by modern standards and there's not enough of a difference between the two factions and not much in the way of units either. So if you're a fan of Warcraft, you may want to take a look at this game to see what started it all. Maybe play the campaign (optionally with cheats) to get the story and see and/or kill some classic characters and get to visit and/or raze some locations from World of Warcraft for fun. If you want some proper fun with a classic Warcraft game however, look to the sequel instead as Warcraft II brought many improvements to the genre as well as setting the control standard for nearly every following RTS making it a much more enjoyable play.

The Elder Scrolls Adventures: Redguard

Broken and buggy

Unless you're a diehard fan who must play all the Elder Scrolls game, better stay away from this one. It's like a cheap Prince of Persia knockoff in 3D, just with a horribly broken game engine meaning you have to save before doing anything in case it decides to bug out. Also, the combat is plain horrible and unfun and a chore to do and best avoided. Best strategy is drink strength and ironskin potions before every fight and just spam attack. At least the game throws health potions at you like crazy, and gold that you have to spend on buying more potions due to the serverly limited carrying capacity of 500 gold at a time. Further, the story is not very good to be honest. Starts out decent, but goes more and more into tripe the further towards the end you get. And most of the characters are plain annoying and/or stupid, including the main character with many having horribly grating voices and mannerisms. So my final score is two stars, because it can be played through mostly fine and can be somewhat enjoyable unlike the abomination that is Battlespire.

An Elder Scrolls Legend: Battlespire

Weird and not fun

Battlespire is certainly an oddity in the Elder Scrolls series. However, unless you really want to experience this game for yourself, stay away and save yourself the frustration of playing this. The controls are odd (which is a product of its time) but can be sanitized somewhat. The game is buggy, so expect a lot of getting stuck in walls and going out of bounds and other such things. Also, if you mess up too much a game-breaking bug will break your saves and make you unable to progress past level 5. The gratuitous nudity and the poor writing also makes this feel more like a fangame made by hormonal teenagers rather than an official game in the series. It is an ugly game and the sound and music is awful. Especially level 5 wanted to make me puncture my ears to rid myself of the torment. It does however have an interesting idea: The ability to talk to the enemies and maybe even convince them to help you out or give you extra information. However, this is not enough to save it from being awful. It's a slog from start to finish and it ends anticlimactically and the only feeling of satisfaction is the feeling that it's finally over.
