(game bought on Steam on pre-release) No Man's Sky is an example of a game which made a 180º turn after the tea-weak, bug-ridden release to a game that earned more than one "Made with Love" prize on Steam I admit I was unable to play for two years after a big update (blame my 9-year old PC) but then it started working again, still using the same old PC and played up to the last Expedition, Titan And after almost 9 years NMS evolved much, becoming a nice game I like lots Waiting for the next HelloGames release, Light No Fire (don't know when)
(still in the beginning, may edit this later) Title resumes it all - a deep game, where choices matter and have an influence Life goes on and death is not the end - new generations are born and new recruits appear, each one with their own advantages and perks The combat mode is quite similar to X-COM when it comes to cover, with a nice twist - you can use a Mystic to use parts of it to your advantage, like, using a brazier's flame to cover enemies in fire or a bush to entangle and damage with thorns The special moments are many and very very diverse, like grbbing an elemental beast on battlefield (thus granting elemental properties to your weapon) Higly recommented!!
(still in the very beginning, will edit this review later) Since CDPR announced this game 8 years ago I've been waiting. 7 years ago I got the hype with the amazing ad with the "Bullet" music And finally after all this time and some delays CP2077 came out I know it got bugs, my PC is a 5 year toaster with Windows 7, but it's running nice on low settings - specially after the 1st patch I see many haters and peeps who didn't like the release as it is, buuuuuuut... CDPR never disappointed me before, and I believe they will make this game work better.
I remember when I bought Diablo back in 1996 as soon as it was released - It was an amazing game back then and helped to skyrocket Blizzard to what it's now. Many players would love a remake of Diablo, but oh, you can't have everything you want. For the new players Diablo will give you a taste of how the franchise started. Sierra released Hellfire, an expansion that included some more stuff but sadly it didn't come - yet.
Not spoiling a thing here, go get this game!! Still have its CD and manual stored somewhere. It's one of the most funny games I ever played. It's an interesting mix of RPG with Adventure (in some scenes you can interact/use commands with some parts) and a ton of humor everywhere, including hilarious names (alliterations!!), sometimes with matching powers (except for Captain Excitement). I wonder what the game developers were drinking when they came to the heroes' powers, wacky names but useful everywhere, including for solving puzzles. As I said, go get this game!!
Bought this game on Steam still on preorder, as I like 4x space games. The release was showered with lots of complains of all kinds - bugs, crashes, issues of all sorts, the list goes on. Since then Egosoft spent a lot of time fixing and updating the game several times, now it's version 4.0 and still have a lot of (many old) negatives there. There is also a good modding community for this game at Nexus Mods, I recommend looking there. Still giving a 4/5, this game is really good even with the issues.
Many years ago I bought this game, when PC games in Brazil were few and hard to find. Still have the cd somewhere here (can't say the same about the box) and the official strategy guide, which I got when I went to NY. Almost finished it, got stuck in some part just before the ending. Pity. Was a good game, even with its (original) old pixelated look, and now with the Enhanced features, System Shock is an awesome game, with great plot twists, devious puzzles, dazzling cyberfights, a few scapes and a great story. The lack of a mouse back then was something that made the game much more difficult, but the Enhanced version gives you the mobility to survive. And trust me, you'll need it. Shodan's stuttering electronic voice is something that will haunt you now and then (and perhaps when you sleep too). She's the enemy you'll love and love to hate. It's also the spiritual precursor of the famed Bioshock games, but I'm a nostalgic person, and System Shock will always have a place in my heart.
Got this game in 2007, when it was released by BitBlot, as well as the soundtrack on CD, back then you barely heard of "indie games".. and this game, its music, ah everything is a bright shinning jewel. The BitBlot forum was (and still is) filled and alive (less today) with mod talkin (yeah, you can mod it!) as the source code is Lua-based and all of it (language, graphics, etc) is easly accessible. Won't get into details (don't want to spoil it!). It has a secret ending that sadly ends with a "To Be Continued", giving off a sequel that never came. The game developers said "no motivation" and no news till today are bad news. Anyway, go get the game - you will love it!
Not much am horror-game player myself, but this game holds a place in my heart and as such deserves a review. A big game back then (2 cds!), it came in in of these big carton boxes with Stauf´s mansion in the front. A dark rose-clair twilight in background, already giving an idea of what you would find inside. You start and stays alone in the game; your only companions are the cursor (a skeletal hand which changes according to certain conditions) and Stauff´s voice that pop up (be it random or not, including during puzzles), making you jump sometimes. There are details everywhere, some even looking cute or beautful, but this is 7th Guest, and here nothing is what it seems to be. There are FMVs all over the game, many before and after the puzzles (getting into the puzzles soon) Real actors, not CG-designed. The puzzles are the core of the game - some are easy and some difficult to solve and make you THINK (the microscope one being by large the hardest to solve). When the puzzle is done, a FMV opens giving more hints of what happened in the mansion and usually opening new areas. Oh, you have the option of bypassing a puzzle after some failed tries but you won't watch the FMV. The incredible soundtrack ("Skeletons in my closet" is a must-hear!) sometimes with a xylophone touch (makes you think of bones!) help to create the right background to the game - creepy, dark and with a big dab of dark humor. You can´t compare the FMVs and graphic quality to today´s games - some FMVs are laughable, but 7th Guest is a classic and thus deserve a try for today´s players.
