I think there's a lot of potential here. The island has a classic biome simplicity to it, but it also offers fun details and secrets. I think the developer's biggest challenge is to avoid making the game too grindy. Already, I've seen many people consider the photography (scores) too finnicky, leading to tedium. Another big concern I have is with performance. I'm sure it will be improved, but there's still a pretty big gap between the actual graphical fidelity and the load on my pc. Furthermore, the purple moon - arguably one of the most interesting times in the game - sets off a chain reaction of npc spawn and interaction that will eventually lead to massive frame drops and, probably, crashes. That definitely needs to be resolved, before I can call this game playable.
As far as I know, there is no other game that combines gameplay like Cataclismo does. Yes, there are enough games that let you build a base, manage units, gather resources, and build defences. But none, that I'm aware of, also let you build your defenses, i.e. walls, piece by piece. The execution is also good, and I can only regret that there isn't more content. But what's that? They have a custom map builder? The devs knew what they were doing when they designed this game.
Great voice acting, a thrilling tale, beautiful art (both maps and cards), and a twist on battle that's not necessarily original but still greatly compelling. As an added benefit, many elements of the tale are recognizable from both the Witcher games and the book series. Worth full price, especially if you're into card games (Gwent).
