Biowares first attempt at an action RPG, which they would perfect with Mass Effect. Combat is basic and not that fleshed out but serviceable. Story is interesting enough and the game is a decent length if you do a lot of side quests. The RPG elements are pretty light in terms of character customisation and it lacks the interesting characters and story variety of Mass Effect. You won't feel ripped off at the price of the game as it is but its not one of those games that offers much reason to go through it again
Having never played this game when I was younger but hearing about it I decided to give it a go. Gameplay wise its fun and graphics aren't bad for its time, refreshing to play a retro action game that isn't a FPS. But where it falls down is its story. You can tell right off the bat this story was written for the braindead Red Dawn crowd, with over the top cliched Russian villains and moronic plot points that would make Michael Bay blush. Fun overall just resist the temptation to skip the cutscenes to avoid the sheer dairy that is the dialogue
I remember playing this game on the Playstation 2 so many years ago and I believed this was the same version here on GOG. I guess the PS2 one was some sort of special edition because this PC version in an inferior product. Worse graphics and the entire Eqypt section at the start of the game is missing. Still the same in the gameplay department but I am glad I got this on discount
I remember enjoying this very much as a kid and it still is brainless fun but it hasn't aged well. The humour also I remember enjoying as a kid but as an adult.....its outright garbage, found myself skipping the cutscenes all together. Definetly consider getting it at a discount if you want some fun run and gun retro carnage
