Splatter - Zombiecalypse Now

Pretty good, actually.

This game has the vibe of old zombie flash games from the early 2010s, some of which have similar presentations to this one (Endless Zombie Rampage and the Decision series come to mind), making it feel nostalgic to me. The game starts out simple enough: you're in your house and then zombie outbreak happens, and you're forced to flee. As the game goes on, however, it starts to become more creative with its enemies, weapons, and levels. You start fighting giant bugs and other weird monsters, using explosives, lasers, and even farm vehicles to turn the hordes into a fine red paste. That being said, the game (like most games) has problems. I feel that the last two guns you acquire feel underpowered, even with upgrades (the flamethrower in particular, it doesn't even do afterburn damage in most cases). I also think that the game could've benefitted from character upgrades, too. Armor does exist, but it's presence feels non-existent due to how much damage the player takes anyways. All in all, this game is pretty solid. Guns feel great to use with nice particle effects, the flare mechanic is unique and sets this game apart, and even the Max-Payne-esque cutscenes are charming. If you're looking to blast some zombies away, this is a good choice.
