The Legend of Nayuta: Boundless Trails

Wonderful Story. Fun Gameplay Loop

The Legend of Nayuta is a game with a lot of love put into it. The character's voices, the story, the art. Everything about this game screams love and dedication. [Gameplay] The gameplay loop is solid, and has you choosing from differently hub worlds and selecting stages to enter. In each stage you're tasked not only with completion, but collecting a serious of items scattered throughout the stage you're in. The game rewards you for finding items in each stage, in the form of upgrades to your characters abilities, and even gear for your character to wear. The games difficulty starts out rather easy, but picks up as it goes on, especially in the later chapters. I played the game on hard, and while the game isn't super difficulty by any means, It was a decent challenge toward the end. The game from start to finish took me 25h 20m [Story] The game follows the story of Nayuta, a 15 year old boy who goes from a mere scholar, to a hero over the course of his adventure. Each character in the game is full of life, with their own personalities, likes, dislikes, and relation to Nayuta. As you progress, their dialogue changes, and they always have something to say if you make it a point to check up on them after major events. The voice acting (both English and Japanese) is beautiful, and I was never disappointed with any performance. It really made it easy to get immersed into the beautiful world. [Art] The games art (while nothing too special) is extremely vibrant, and especially looked great in 1440p Character models are low poly, but have enough detail in them for you to tell what they represent, and are extremely stylized. [Conclusion] The Legend of Nayuta: Boundless Trails is a game with a lot of love and dedication put into it. If you're looking for an immersive story, with lovely characters, and fun gameplay, I would say the game is worth the full price.

Enclave

Old and Janky, yet extremely fun

I will admit, once I picked this game up, the first few missions were rough. I was going to quit after the third one, but decided to give it a chance, and man am I happy I did. The game is a special kind of jank, and can be downright frustrating sometimes, but the gameplay loop of finding hidden gold in each level to power up your characters in order to tackle future missions is actually satisfying, and each level has some kind of gimmick to keep you interested. Whether that be dangerous terrain, arena battles, or enemies that require positioning and baiting, each level is a challenge. Melee combat feels down right unfair at times, yet once you get used to it and you start to tackle it the way the game wants you to, It makes things more fun. Each class in the game excels in certain levels, and I found myself favoring the Druid and Halfling. The games art style is beautiful, (especially the designs for the characters) and each texture has work and love put into it. If you're on the fence about the game, I'd say pick it up when its on sale and give it a chance. I'm certainly enjoying my experience, and I think if you give it a chance, you will too.
