Janky, unfinished, unresponsive and annoying - what comes to mind when I think of Gothic 3. I love G1 and 2, but part 3 is like this weird mix of awful (and I mean really, REALLY awful) combat and meaningless neverending fetch quests. I guess it's playable now with the community patches, but how people can enjoy this - now that's a mystery to me. On the plus side - the world is nice to look at, especially for 2006. Also the soundtrack is great (but it's Kai Rosenkranz so it's a given). Play Gothic 1 or 2 instead.
I love Dark Souls and Bloodborne and I was looking for something in similar, dark fantasy style. And when it comes to style, artwork and music - this game is beautiful. The gameplay - not so much. I love difficult games, but there's very little sense of progress. You can lose hours of gameplay because of some random stuff. And the gameplay itself quickly becomes tedious. I will spent some more time in this game, because I love the style - but I don't think it will become any better.
My fav in the series. Sure it is somewhat clunky by todays standards, and graphics may seem dated - but it all goes away after few minutes of playing. The first entry in the Diablo series has that charm - that great brutal dark fantasy setting that is awesome to this day. Add the replayability and random dungeons - you got a perfect, dark fantasy dungeon crawler. And when you finish vanilla game - try the HD mods like Belzebub or The Hell. Must have!
Old version of System Shock is very clunky and unappealing by todays standards. But - this version makes everything better. There is some clunkiness, but it's mainly because of original design - and in few minutes everything becomes very clear. This version has many, many options to customize your gameplay - from controls, to difficulty. It's a very immersive game and it encourages the player to explore and carefully plan your adventure. It lacks the RPG elements of System Shock 2, but it's more open ended, and (for me at least) much more fun to play. If you're a fan of sci-fi/cyberpunk - this is a must! For me it's better than SS2. Great game and extremely recommended!
This is the best game in the Wolfenstein series. Great gameplay, great levels, nice plot including mix of warfare and occultism. New Wolf games are good, but RTCW was the best, and still is. Must have!
