The Chronicles of Riddick: Assault on Dark Athena

One awesome game, one decent one.

Escape from Butcher Bay is worth the price of admission alone. It combines action, adventure and stealth in a smart and seamless way. A well-realized world with Interesting characters combined with a harsh and unforgiving environment. It also has one of the most fascinating audio commentaries of any game. If you play through a second time, I'd recommend turning the commentary on. Dark Athena was okay. It had the same mechanics but the story and characters weren't nearly as good. Summary: Escape from Butcher Bay is fantastic. Dark Athena is simply an added bonus.

Amnesia: The Dark Descent

A Horror Masterpiece

For anyone who is looking for a truly unsettling, nerve-wracking experience. This is that game. A really spooky atmosphere, sanity effects that will determine if you're in danger . . . or not. This game is the best horror game ever.

Far Cry®

Solid, Challenging Sandbox Shooter

The first half of this game is amazing. The amount of freedom which you can pursue your goal is great. the control is tight, the guns have a nice punch to it, and challenge that encourages clever, 1-against-100 tactics. The second half is not as great, newer enemies make the game more frustrating. But overall this game comes highly recommended.

Unreal Tournament 2004 Editor's Choice Edition

A Multiplayer Masterpiece!

UT2K4 is pretty much the definitive multiplayer shooter. Not only does the stock game include a staggering amount of content, but the ECE includes another game's worth of content, on top of the community built mods and maps. This game includes a WoW sized experience. The control is also rock solid. you are always in absolute control. This is the ultimate multiplayer experience (CoD be damned).

Painkiller Black Edition

Good, dumb fun (for a little while).

This game is old-school to a fault. It's good to tear armies of monster to shreds, but that's is literally all you will do. if that's what you're looking for, go for it. But for anyone that likes a little more to their FPS, you'll get bored very quickly.

The Penumbra Collection

A Diamond in the Rough

The Penumbra Series is a good horror collection, not great but good. The atmosphere is tense and you feel like you're in real danger constantly (which you are). Overture has some major mechanical flaws, namely the combat, but is legitimately creepy. Black Plague is the best of the series with improved graphics, controls and even creepier atmosphere. Requiem can safely be passed as it's not that great. While not as good as Frictional's Magnum Opus, Amnesia: The Dark Descent, it's still good for those looking for a legit horror experience.

Hotline Miami

Frustrating yet addictive

This game is brutal, both in mechanics and aesthetics. This game has made me rage on more than one occasion, yet I had to keep playing. I couldn't just let the game win like that. When you eventually win, you'll feel like you were pummeled as bad as your character was. But you'll feel a rewarding sense of relief that it's over . . . or will it.
