World in Conflict: Complete Edition

Awesome cinematic Campaing AND MP play

The campaing is just great. Yes, nowadays more and more games come putting the USA as the "defending" faction instead of the attackers, but still it is really well done in my opinion. The cinematics are great, and the story is pretty awesome how it is presented. You follow the campaing from the point of view of a silent character (you) who goes through the starting counter attacks the soviet Invasion of Europe, and then come back to the US to defend against a surprise attack on Seatle. From there, you go on battling the soviets through some desperate moments until you finally force them off US soil. The multiplayer portion of the game has several maps to play through, and it's basically a 4v4 mode. I don't remember if you can play with less, I assume so, but it's pretty awesome to be able to add bots instead, if you don't have enough human players to fill ranks. The idea is that any player can choose any of the 4 types of armies: Tanks, Helicopters, Infantry and support (artillery). Everyone gets points to trade for units, you get more points as time goes by and the more bases you own the more points you get. You get to use units from the time - 1989 - and the graphics are really good, and while it can't stand up to today's next gen graphics, everything looks really, really good. Particularly so the special effects. About how it works on current PC's: I have Windows 7, and I own the Steam version so I'm not about to buy this one right now, maybe in the future, but I was able to play the entire campaing without problems that I recall. Perhaps it has been fixed, or whatever fix I needed I found very quickly in the Steam forums. Anyway, I don't remember any big issues making it work. All in all, a great game, which I fully recommend getting.
