Dead in Vinland is a mix with strategy (ressources gestion, charaters affiliations...), fights (turn-based game), and a good scenario. The gameplay is easy, and you can custom your difficulty. Dialogues and options are based on the character's skills, and you have a map to explore, a quest to realised only in increasing the levels of your characters, and you have the camp and ressources to contrôl. There is a good bonus and malus system, and the fight system is ok. But, if you have not the level to fight some ennemis (for main quests), the game seems repetitive and long. And even if the design is pretty, colorfull, it's just unanimated pictures (with a little repetitive animation of the characters, such as Ash of Gods and The Banner Saga) Conclusion : A good game that I enjoyed playing, the repetitive unanimated gameplay (and soundtracks) is my only negative point.
Shame on me to never played Jade Empire before 2019 ! I am a fan of Bioware's RPG, but I found KOTOR just "ok". Jade Empire has the same interface, but I find the asian context more attractive (exotic). As always, you have companions and their backgrouds (romances options of course), and you play a special character, with an important task and a strange past and destiny. If you find the plot not so special at first, the interactions with NPC's will awake your curiosity. Very inspirated by the ancien empire of China, there is notions about other asian's nations (some people will said "cliches", but without such mixes there will alaways be the same stories in our games, books and movies... boring). The gameplay is different to KOTOR too, and not my favorite, but there is some ideas. And the game's environnment is pretty and immersive. I play in french version and it's funny to hear voices present in other Bioware's games too (and Jim Carrey french voice for one of our companions XD) The bad point for me concerns the "mini-games". Not necessary but frustrating : it's a vertical shoot-em-up, and I found those missions difficult. Well, I don't know if flying missions of KOTOR was better or worse, but I think there are all useless in such games.
How bad it is ! This game is wonderfull, better than the 1rst Shadowrun (team members selection, outfits, mission's selection...). BUT, there is an important bug during a long mission near to the end of the game (Apex mission if I remember : a difficult mission with a timing fot a fight in and out of the matrix) : - to save is impossible - to try to save cause an impossibility to clic or interact in general (during the battle). The solution ? No one, just rush the mission without a save, and hope that this bug of the interface never happen during the mission ! The rest of the game is perfect, except... WHY THERE IS NO FRENCH TRADUCTION ?
I love this game : beautifull musics and illustrations, a story as we like it in a fantasy world, and characters very specifics (personality, background...). People who played "Banner Saga" will be enchanted by Ash of Gods. - Every decision is important, this is addictive and frustrating, because some of them have their repercussions later during the game. - Your characters can die because of your decisions or during a battle. - Alternate the modes : map - battle - character interactions - RP choices, give some dynamic to the game. - You can chose your difficulty : for exemple if you prefer to follow the story lines without a dead character during a battle And this game is in french ! THANK YOU !!! Because, yes, reeding is the basic to play Ash of Gods. Bad points : - Some bugs : zapped decision's windows and dialogues : and then, a choice was made without I knew it. - No voices : to bad, that could made this game more dynamic, because the characters are not animated at all during the dialogues and interactions.
First precision : I have the good requirements to play to Syberia 3 on my MacBook. Different to than Sybera 1 and 2, the gameplay here is strange, but the idea could be good if it was playable. Graphisms are not the real problem, but controls are horrible ! Move, clic, camera, and reload again because the cursor disapeared... Frustrating, I can't play. Good point : game in french.
I was not familiar with the cyberpunk RPG's environment (D&D and medieval universes are my bases), but I decided to try Shadowrun Returns by curiousity (and it was just 4€). Oh, and because there was an VERRY important point I like in a role-play : the character creation (characteristics and gender choices). For a lover of games like Baldur's Gate, NWN, Dragon Age, Pillars, Torments, etc... I was first not seduced by the design and the gameplay of Shadowrun that I saw before playing myself. I was wrong : I finally don't hate the turn based combat, and the story made me curious about the universe in general. Of course, the game is quickly ended, the main quest and interactions with the environment follow a simple line, very restricted, but the background is intersting, the characters have good and rich dialogues, and the graphisms permit a real immersion. Because, yes there is a lot of dialogues (my english is just basic, so thanks for french traduction ! Even if it is not perfect : my character is a woman but the NPCs always refer her like she was a man --'). Conclusion : A very good introduction in the universe of Shadowrun, it is a success for that ! So, try the game, but if you really want more quests, choices and impacts in your role-play, the next games "Shadowrun Dragonfall" and "Hong Kong" are better.
First point : this game is free, so why read this commentary and download it first ;) I played Cayne in the dark, because the ambience is horror and strange. The story is immersive and interesting. Yes, you arrive quickly to the end and you follow the scenario, but the dark danger of the environnementa and the situation will make you paranoïd and stressed. My bads points are : the interactivity, the slowness of your character (but eh, pregnancy is a good excuse) and the absence of some explinations. Fans of games like Planescape Torments and Torments Tides of Numerana (particullary), you will like Cayne.
