Sniper Elite V2 Remastered

Sniper Elite V2 Remastered

Positives: + Good idea + Nice graphics and lightning + Good sounds and music + Sniping is cool with bullet cam and x-Ray kill-cam + Mostly entertaining + Gravity, wind and heartrate that effects sniping + Some nicely designed places + Cool DLCs (especially Neudorf Outpost) + Co-op mode + Okay length (about 7 hours in total) Negatives: - Flickering lights that can give headaches (and its not possible to it turn off) - AI is all over the place (from smart to very stupid) - Spawning enemies - Very hard on the higher difficulty settings - Enemies spot you right away (it dosent matter if youre stealthy and using the environment to your advantage) and sometimes shoot you thru obstacles when covered - Bugs (cover system hangs, enemies get stuck etc) - Bad cover system in general (feels glued and unnatural) - Mostly very linear - Quirky controls - You cant jump - First person view would be preferable to third person - Very little is remastered except a few graphical upgrades - Not worth the full retail price Well I have to say this was a nicely upgraded sequel compared to the original game released in 2005. The graphics in general are way better (as it should be in 7 years time), with better lightning effects (thanks to the remaster) and physics. Its also much more fun this time, and the x-ray kill cam is a nice touch. What bothers me though, is that the controls are still quirky and the cover system is not polished at all. The enemies are also a mixed bag, and takes away some of the enjoyment. But dont get me wrong, its still a good game. But why was there so little improvement done to this remaster? Seems like they thought: "We'll just make a few graphics upgrades and make some easy money". At least its nice that they included all the DLCs (I loved Neudorf Outpost). So all in all its a cool game if you like sniping and WW2 titles, but this remaster its not worth the full retail price, so its reccommended to buy it when its discounted. Total Score: 7.5/10

Flower

Flower "Power"

Flower Positives: + The idea is good + Some places are ok + Some ok music + Different + Its short Negatives: - The most horrible controls I have ever encountered - Sometimes feels like the game is controlling itself - Not anywhere near harmonical and peaceful - Frustrating - No in-game explanation whatsoever - Way too politically correct - The graphics are so-so - Sometimes surprisingly dark and creepylike This game is nothing like it seems, it looks beautiful and peaceful, but its not. Its quite dark and has very frustrating controls. The only ones who might like this are environmentalists, artistic people and non-violent "gamers". Its different, I'll give it that. But at the same time, we've heard the story a million times before about how humans and industry destroys the nature and the environment. Please come up with something else the next time, the topic is used up. And fix the horrible controls! Total Score: 4.5/10

F.E.A.R. Platinum

F.E.A.R. Platinum Edition

Positives: + Both DLCs are included + Very nice graphics, shadow and lightning effects (for its time) + Good sounds and music + The atmosphere in the main game and E.P. + Creepy horror parts in the main game and E.P. + Nice gunplay + Some cool weapons (nice newcomers in the DLCs) + The few places that are outside + Slow motion + Okay A.I. + Good physics (when the fps is under control) + When things get crazy (gunfights, explosions, things fly everywhere etc) + Good length in total Negatives: - The game engine comes with a lot of problems (especially on modern systems with high fps) - The game exits, levels not loading, very unstable fps, physics issues etc - Some other bugs and glitches - P.M. DLC is not that great in general - A lot of the same looking corridors - Gets a bit repetitive at times (especially in the DLCs) If you like horror themed FPS games, look no further. This is it. The main game is the best, no doubt. E.P. was quite good, but P.M. was just okay. Be aware though, that there will be a lot of similar looking corridors. But the horror parts and fun gunfights will make it worth it. Score: F.E.A.R. : 7.5/10 F.E.A.R. Extraction Point : 7/10 F.E.A.R. Perseus Mandate : 6.5/10 Total Score: 7/10

Serious Sam: The First Encounter

Seriously Sam?

Positives: + State of the art graphics + Nice looking large levels + Good sound + Nice humour + Some puzzles + Some cool weapons and enemies Negatives: - Horrible difficulty spikes - Hordes of enemies coming at you again and again for the entire game - On higher difficulty levels its ridiculusly hard - Frustrating and annoying - Never ending enemies - All levels are just large arenas that are made almost the same - Absolutely no variation in gameplay - The music gets very repetitive Sorry Sam, this is was a serious disappointment. Its more like a tech demo to show of the fantastic graphics engine than a full-fledged game. The gameplay is so simple and ridiculus, it makes Doom a tactical shooter in comparison. Total Score: 3.5/10

Soldier of Fortune: Payback

Soldier Of Fortune: Payback

Positives: + bodyparts fly when hit + various weapons and costumization to choose from + varied landscapes + sniping option + good graphics + good sound and music + partly entertaining Negatives: - the AI is not the best, and is often unfair - some parts are too hard - the checkpoint system is not polished enough - damage model is to simple - unstable and buggy - enemies often keeps popping up and respawning - does not have a quick save function - not as good as the first two games Total Score: 6/10 Recommended modifications: Widescreen fix: Go to the Save map Open profile.dat with HxD Find the string which displays the resolution, e.g. 1600x1050x60. Replace it with the resolution of your display. FPS lock: Use RivaTuner Statistics Server and lock the FPS to 60. Anything higher will make the game glitchy and hard to play.
