Starship Troopers: Terran Command

Launcher off scale & obnoxious tutorial.

I play on a larger scale UI / Resolution. So imagine my "shock" when I launch the game that the game launch box doesn't show half the stuff I need to see. I could barely see the play button to click it. I could find any box arrows to expand the box out either so I could see it. I thought perhaps the game didn't register the proper resolution. Imagine my "shock" once again when I get into the game and wait for the annoying "narrator" to stop talking, the voice acting was atrocious as well, so I can open the options menu. The resolution was set to the proper size. Oh okay then why did the launch box for the game not show things properly if the game detected the right resolution? Then I noticed a "submit to data collection" box automatically check marked for collection. I know it's the age of the internet and our privacy is a glass house at this point but at least let me play my game in peace without you having to know my dxdiag, msinfo, GPU, CPU and other IP info and "non-identifying" information. If you want the game to be better then just genuinely ask players for feedback and include a feedback reporting button for them to send you more feedback and information. Let people give it to you willingly and even include a section for them to include their computer specs or other info and let them CHOOSE to give it to you. People respect companies that respect their privacy. Then another thing during the tutorial it was just nonstop PINGING sounds flashing nonstop on the radar. HEY GO HERE! HEY GO HERE! HEY GO HERE! ...Ok Navi didn't realize I was looking for the Ocarina of Time and we're here to stop Ganonbug the Arch Bad Roach guy. There isn't even an option to stop that / turn it off unless you mute the whole game sound effects. Total oversight and a nuisance for sure. Between all of these issues and not being able to get the launcher to work right I just requested a refund. I had high hopes for this game. Shame on me for expecting a good modern game in this age. :(

Lords and Villeins

Tutorial Issues and Bad AI.

I've heard a lot of bad things about this game despite it being "early access". I played through the tutorial until it came to "building a silo on the farm zone". I had over 50 clay and yet they refused to build the silo. Peasants, or Villeins as they're called here, refused to do their jobs or build it. Meanwhile it took so long people started starving, I couldn't progress to other areas of the tutorial like "how to make food / meals" and other important processes. The tutorial bounces around instead of focusing on what is most important to begin with. They teach you about zones, warehouse and other things foremost but after that it just sort of doesn't make sense. Oh winter is coming build roofs on your homes. It was still spring time. Oh make sure you have firewood to not freeze but it's still springtime. I need to know how to make meals and make food for my people not worry about later game items. Building the silo took so long, and still didn't work, that people were starving. My people were giving birth and the silo still wouldn't be built so I could progress farther along in the story. The game is a disaster with many bugs and bad AI right now. The tutorial needs to be re-written to make more sense for newer players. Teach people how to make food / meals. Stop bouncing around to random things going from zones, to make a wall, to upgrade this zone (put items in it), to make a roof, to other things when there needs to be a set guideline to help learn what's most important to keep your people ALIVE and NOT starving. Sure you can grant meals from your warehouse but what happens when you run out of meals to grant and you don't know how to make more meals because the tutorial is bugged and won't complete due to the AI not completing tasks? Overall this is probably one of my biggest disappointments in gaming I've ever had. I enjoy medieval and fantasy games but you're better off purchasing RimWorld, all the DLC and modding it. This game needs a lot of work still.
