The game is fun don't get me wrong, but the camera movement and bad performance in some areas make the game a chore to get through. Even the combat is random to the point were you lose your whole party because you missed 10 hits on an enemy. I have no problem with turned based combat but holy crap does it rely on RNG way too much. Story is solid so I will give it that, but the facial animations are not as good as other games I have played. Most of the time the faces are just plain even though they are saying something to evoke emotion. Also game is too long which is ok, but it's almost to the point were the combat makes it frustrating to play, eventually, making me put the game down for a while. Other than what I have said, if I only count story it's a 8/10, but including combat that score comes to a 6/10. I don't see how this game is 10/10 (perfect) to everyone else when there are problems.
The first time I ever played destroy all humans was due to the 1st game remake. And this game does not dissapoint at all. Very nice and fluid gameplay, and the story is amazing in my opinion. Now I know why so many people loved this series growing up. Glad I got to experience these games.
For new players such as me I got lost a lot, but then again a lot of areas that the quests listed were easy to get to so it wasn't all bad. Also, and I know people won't like my viewpoint, and that's ok. But this game got tedious and boring real fast, at least it did for me. However, I did like most of the story, music, npcs, and locations. But this comes at a cost of most of the quests consisting of fetch quests and somewhat passable gameplay, although, the compat in this game does show it's age. So since it's an older game I can give it some leeway for that. On top of all this I was often frustrated going through long sections of levels and backtracking, because the game does not help you one bit. I know someone is gonna say, "You need a game to hold your hand, haha, little baby." Yes I understand your viewpoint, but at the very least they could have added a hint on where certain things are (Yes I know they gave you hints, but not always when a quest updates), or they could have added a minimap system back in 2004. This was possible on Postal 2 (2003), so I would think it would be possible to add it. Besides all that there are enjoyable moments, but this is far from a perfect game in my opinion.
Let me go ahead and get this out of the way, optimization needs serious work. Now let's move past that and talk about the game, there is a lot of running around and using mobility scooters in this game. Almost to the point were it's not fun to play. I get it some games need a "go to point A and then point B then come back to point A", but with how far everything is and backtracking it becomes tedious. Now for the story, it was alright, but in my opinion Postal 2 was a better game overall for story and gameplay. And even to this day the game runs well. Postal 4 lacks a lot of what Postal 2 did so well, one of the most important parts is the well placed comedy in Postal 2. Where as Postal 4 seems more tame and doesn't try to go out of it's way to be the goofiest/funniest game it can be. There are a lot of hidden moments that made me laugh and plenty of good cutscene segments. Overall if you want something like Postal 2 and want to play Postal 4, just be prepared for a more tame game than 2.
