This, ladies and gentlemen, is why the YouTube gamining community has a bad name! Just when I thought the final nail had been hammered into the Slender coffin, GOG dug it up and decided to add another extremely unnecessary one. It's not even worth giving a detailed review, all you need to know is that you run very slowly through some generic scenery picking up notes and occasionally seeing a tall guy in a tuxedo with no face. Why is this whole Slenderman Mythos popular? Because the internet is full of morons.
People are always very quick to hate on this game without actually taking the time to stop, think and appreciate it for what it actually is. Tomb Raider: Angel of Darkness is drastically different from the usual Lara Croft experience, people should be informed of this before purchasing. The game takes on more of a stealth orientated mystery game as opposed to Lara's usual action packed platforming but really that's the games charm. Angel of Darkness is a dark, atmospheric and psychological experience, tapping into Lara's fears and her personality as a whole. It's ingenious storytelling is where it really shines, once the tutorial segment is over you'll be introduced to a gripping and exciting murder mystery epic that will keep you on the edge of your seat. Aside from it's astounding story the games soundtrack is also a great selling point and really adds to the dark atmosphere the game creates. To be honest if the "Tomb Raider" wasn't in the title I think this game would have been much better received by critics and gamers alike. Granted, it's controls could have used a bit of a spit and shine but on the whole Angel of Darkness is a game I would recommend to anybody looking to play a game with true interactive storytelling.
I have been checking the wishlist request for these daily, hoping to see a "Completed" or "In Progress" next to the wishes for quite some time now. I knew it would only be a matter of time because, how can you have a game for classic PC games and not have the Tomb Raider series? These games were revolutionary for the more serious side to the 3D platformer genre, games that inspired the likes Uncharted and the later Prince of Persia games. Admittedly for those of you who have only played the console ports of these, you'll find the control scheme a little daunting at first but once you've mastered it you'll never want to go back! Playing it on PC is a totally different experience and one that I generally prefer. I'd love to see Last Revelation and Chronicles pop up on here too someday but the original trilogy is just as welcome! A must have for all GOG users!
