GOG Patron
Technically this is neither a game nor a DLC. It is access to an online service, hence IMHO DRM-free doesn't apply here: you cannot "install" a webpage, so there cannot be an offline installer for it. I agree that this is something I wouldn't have expected from GOG.com, but in their defense I have to say that this goes against all those "steam games have this and that – why doesn't GOG" comments out there: If GOG wouldn't supply this, the now very negative comments would be the other way around. That said, I confess that I wouldn't buy (or use) this map either, since it's unclear for how long such a webpage will (or can) remain... (4 stars for going new ways while staying true to the old ways.)
Das Spiel ist sehr gut ausbalanciert und hat eine cineastische Geschichte, die man durchlebt, von der man aber auch nicht wirklich abweichen kann. Wie bei einem Film will man aber irgendwann wissen, wie es weiter geht, auch wenn relativ schnell ungefähr klar ist, was los ist und wie alles in groben Zügen zusammenhängt. Abseits von der Geschichte aber hat man die Freiheit, alles zu tun und zu lassen, was in dieser Welt so möglich ist. "Die Monster respawnen" heißt hier, dass es immer wieder genügend Maschinen zum Jagen gibt. Die Landschaft ist divers und es ist eine Freude, sie zu erkunden. Die Spielsteuerung ist leicht zu erlernen, und wer will, kann es bei einfacheren Kampftechniken belassen. Für diejenigen, denen das zu wenig ist, gibt es zahlreiche Möglichkeiten, den Kampf zu verfeinern und interessanter zu gestalten. Auch, wer tiefer in die Geschichte eintauchen will, findet genug Material, dass es zu finden, zu lesen oder anzuhören gilt. Wer das nicht will, der ist mit den Videosequenzen ebenfalls im Bilde... Ich kann daher die PC-Version wärmstens empfehlen. Probleme hatte ich damit keine... Mein System: Windows 10, Ryzen 1800X, Radeon RX Vega 64; Grafikeinstellung "Ultra" in FullHD-Auflösung.
The game itself is great, but… Sadly the Mac version (Mac OS X 10.2 and newer) is missing. There was a patch to make it run on 10.7 (Lion). Additionally, there was a Linux (x86) version as well. There even was a Linux PowerPC version (all that was needed was to replace one binary). Other than that: thanks for including four languages: retail you can only get either English, German, … and so on. Retail you can also either get PC i.e. Windows or Mac+Linux. PLEASE add the Mac+Linux version as well!
