Vampire®: The Masquerade - Bloodlines™

cannot recommend

it was cool back then, and not to a small part because of the graphic/design. the game is a rpg with action elements, but a lot can be accomplished through talking as well. while the idea and game is good, the execution, alas, was not. A non-broken game(the second half is straight up broken up to a crashing because of a glitch that has been there since forever) can be restored with (fan) patches, and it is quite decent then imo, but to ask 16.79€ for such an old game in a still broken state. i would see it with say some hd textures and whatnot, but in its broken vanilla state?? fucking hilarious. don´t buy, don´t support such practices. this is a bad joke, right?! how hard could it be after all these years and known issues? who "fixes" and "tests" these things, some brain dead monkey or what is going on gog?

Neverwinter Nights: Enhanced Edition Digital Deluxe Edition

An insult to Waukeen..

hi. i play it since release on/off. just wanted to quickly remind that: the "premium" modules are boring af. definitely NOT, i repeat, NOT worth 52.29€ . or 0,01€. or anything. i wasted some time on them when they were free, and they left no impression. If at all, infinite dungeons may be worth a try, but again, i wouldnt pay for it, and neither is it necessary if you own a brain, sth to use a keyboard with, and some googleing. also, from the original campaigns only hotu is really decent, sou is okayish\good. Unless you are a diehard beamdog fan dont buy, and even then, it is way too overpriced. insultingly so even. Even with a complete overhaul and fixes, even if it had up to date graphics, it would certainly not be worth that amount of money. Heck, its even more than the original+expansions used to be some ten years ago. It is part of why ppl dont like you very much, dear beamdog. You are charging ppl too much for a game they already know by heart, sometimes even adding more glitches and breaking immersion with your self made content(BG). Anyway, if you, fellow player, want a quick fix of d+d in a 20 years old 3d engine, get the normal enhanced edition on a sale(i got it for 10€ here), and play some of the outstanding mods released for free by true fans. namely the swordflight, aielund and sands of fate sagas. at least the normal diamond edition is included here too.

Terraria

YES

Why 5 stars? I have easily 1k+ hours in terraria, yes i am a bit biased. Terraria is a sandbox-pixelart-builder-adventure. It imo truly deserves to be called sandbox, and yes, this box is indeed filled with alot of content If you just "need" cryengine level graphics and someone to hold your hand, this is probably not for you. If you like exploration and building(kinda, yes, minecraftish) combined with light (item based) rpg mechanics... i long searched for a game like it, and terraria is.

Warhammer 40,000: Fire Warrior

Bah!

Avoid like the plague. The one thing it does well is to show combat vs space marines. They are big and mean. And thats it. I play everything 40k and this is really a terrible game. My favourite race are Eldar, so i know the pain, fellow xenos. But THIS is not worth it. I wouldn´t touch it again with a stick if i was payed. You´ve been warned. It is a fps based on some id engine(quake 2 i think). Boring to play, leveldesign consists of tubes. I quit after a few levels, only good for true masochists. I´d love to see a firewarrior shoot 30" with THAT spread... Did I mention the 20 yrs old tech? it shows, and it also was a piece of trash when it was released. The good side? I didn´t pay to play it back then, so that is a...i´d say plus, but with this thing it´s probably just +/- 0 at best.

Kingdom Come: Deliverance Royal Edition

Deliverance(no elfs included)

So, i play it only now and have not tried earlier versions. It runs nicely(30-60 fps on ultra, that is all you need in a single player game, period) on my i7 8900 @ 1920x1080 on a 1660 super. No glitches so far, though i am sure i could find a few ways to break it. Yes, you will need some good hardware. Loading times don´t exist for me ingame, from my ssd with lots of free space to boot. If you like medieval setting and rpgs, there are not many contenders. I like Stalker, Gothic(+2), Mount and Blade, to name a few. I´m not 14yo, and i like a good story/narrative/atmosphere/setting/gameplay.(not that a 14yo coudn´t enjoy good writing, but, ykwim) KC:D is about historical accuracy(to some possible degree) and social/political settings in the late/high medieval time in what is today the Czech Republic, as they are invaded through inner political discrepancies. If you don´t care about history or think its boring/uninteresting and you are happy with the casual mainstream shooter/rpg/sandbox/no-story/cringe-dialogues-because-they-didn´t-care-to-try...software, then it is probably not made for you to enjoy. Though i find it easy enough to pick up and do things without much knowledge about mechanics and numbers, a good part of this game is "educational", there are no monsters or magic in medieval europe(but other men) You follow the story of Henry, a smith´s son, and he does have a perspective and background of his own. Like, you can not expect to do some at that time questionable action without some comment or reaction. Fighting, or even murdering/killing in battle is not common, and the main focus is just not action a lot of the time, though the action that is done is done so in a realistic way as well(mostly; there are limits to getting shot with arrows repeatedly or being hit in the head with a 1,5m greatclub with or without a helmet on, but wouldn´t be a lot of fun to go that direction...) For 17€ on sale, this game will keep me occupied for some time.

STAR WARS™ Empire at War: Gold Pack

Hm.

I wanted to buy it on a sale, i remember playing it back then. It ran choppy and had the same issues it seems to have now(from reviews), meaning it becomes unplayable after a certain amount in the campaign. too bad, it isnt half a bad game. The cash grab is quite disgraceful. Because if the issues have never been fixed in all those years, why would anyone think it is a good idea/fair to sell the same crap again today? what about optimization and stuff, gog? thats why i buy here! i sure can find some copies of old dos games or win xp etc elsewhere and make them run with some community solutions on my own. I come here so i dont have to. Meh. No Stardestroyers for me tonight i guess.

Warcraft I & II Bundle

Pricing!!

12.59€ for two 20+ yo games. seriously, i am inclined to swear and use inappropriate words. This is ridiculous. Pretty sure these are free somewhere else on the web, even non-pirated. I will continue to use gog. but i will look very closely at what i buy here. The games are classics, defining the genre and whatnot, but i dont feel like fun and playing at all when I am cheated. what a joke. DO NOT BUY!

Warhammer: Chaosbane Slayer Edition

Very meh

I got it on a sale(slayer edition for 50% off). Should have minded the other reviews. I give the second star because I like the franchise, and the artwork at least is done quite well, presentation is okay but pales in comparison to other even low production value titles like 'mechanicus' or 'gladius'. The rest is a bad D3 clone, a dumbed down arpg without much noticable gore and predefined characters. Maybe it gets better on higher difficulties and in the endgame, but I won't stomach ten hours of yawn to find out. Other games like it taught me that it just becomes a gear-hunt in the end. D3 at least compensates with a lot of updated content. I doubt that's the case here. Add one star if you have a bunch of friends to play it with, but even then there are much better alternatives, like a round of tabletop...
