I immensely enjoyed the setting - exploring areas of a once great starship that have fallen into disuse, imagining how it would have looked like clean and populated. All the while having this oppressive feeling that you're witnessing the last days of these humans stuck so far away from Earth. It just hits the right spot for me. The combat is tough and the game rewards both victory through arms and managing to talk or sneak your way out of conflict. I didn't have too many issues with it but I definitely recommend 'Hero' difficulty on the first play-through.

I discovered this game in my very early teens around 2005 and could not make heads or tails of it. But the world drew me in so much that I could not stop playing it and finally leared what's what. I come back to it every few years or so to remember how absolutely fun Arcanum is, and how infuriatingly broken it is. Buyer beware - even with Drog's unofficial patch it's still... janky. But if you're willing to give it a try and overcome the bugs when they pop up, you're in for an amazing adventure.
