Unfortunately, it doesn't work on linux, I've tried Proton 7,8,9, and Experimental, then GE proton 9.25 up to 10.3, but no luck.
It works great on Linux using the Heroic Launcher, but ONLY the Xbox 360 controller works, at least for me.

Be prepared to explore maps, talk to NPCs, and level up frequently. Don’t let the minor setbacks discourage you—give it a try! Also, there is a wide screen mod available online is not hard to find.
I thought it was like stronghold on a space exploration theme. :( :(
