SWAT 4: Gold Edition

Good, Solid Tactical Shooter

So, to start off with, I really appreciate that there isn't a lot of actual 'police shooters' on the market. Discounting CS:GO and Rainbow Six, you don't see a SWAT team storming the building in most games. You typically see Special Forces and the like. As someone who plays a more reckless, shoot and scoot game, this game floored me quickly. It really does grab you by the belt and yank you back from the old 'Modern Warfare' mindset. The realism is pretty spot on, with that said. As a member of a SWAT team (in fact, the team leader), you have the responsibility. Criminals and suspects will put up a fight, some might surrender with the right approach. It isn't all kick doors, kill criminals. Often, you'll be thrown curveballs in your objectives. Arrest this person, secure this confidential informant, rescue hostages, etc. It's an immersive, tactic based shooter that requires you don't run in like Soap MacTavish and start murking anyone that looks at your mohawk funny. A definite must-buy if you like the old school Rainbow Six titles, as SWAT 4 does have that vibe. Not a perfect comparison but it's the closest.
