KoToR II is the first (and arguably only) Star Wars game to emphasize the Grey side of the Force, with a philosophy that being strictly good or strictly evil are both equally impractical and extreme ways of life, and even a bit childish. The highlight of this game in my opinion is the story, which completely breaks away from the traditional and rather stale Star Wars premise of 'save the galaxy from the evil Sith'. The player is mostly motivated in discovering why s/he is the way s/he is (reminding a bit of Planescape: Torment which is always a plus in my book), while being pursued by dark forces without even knowing why. If you've played KoToR I than, gameplay wise, there are little changes although they are welcome. Most characters have unique innate feats for use in battle. Your own character gets noticeably stronger as you progress when compared to KoToR I, with added unique abilities for your chosen class and also combat forms that can give you bonuses depending on your play style - Increase power in Lightsaber combat, increase Force Power, increase defense, and so on. It's too bad that being a Neutral Jedi isn't implemented well in gameplay, as evident that you gain access to gear and stat bonuses by being pure Light or Dark, even though it is the main narrative drive in the game. As in the first game, some of the characters you meet are very interesting and some are very not. The writing and voice acting is generally of high quality. The game has noticeably more replay value than the first - Some characters join your party based on your Light/Dark alignment and some join whether you are playing a male or female character. A lot of your choices throughout the game, although having very little affect on the ending, do have noticeable affects on the NPCs and planets you interact with. KoToR II refines the great gameplay of the original with the added bonus of a truly unique and original story in the Star Wars universe.
