Look, I LOVE the concept of this game, I really do! But After multiple runs of min-maxing as much as I can, I can't in good conscience give a full recommendation of this game. The game starts out fine, you gain relics, get stronger orbs, it IS a good time. What I can't stand is the final boss(es) of this game. I've yet to fully complete a run, and normally that wouldn't be a problem for me since the game loop is fine, especially because I have dealt with similar situation in other roguelikes, this is not my first Roguelike bump in the road. I know the drill. What I can't accept is that the final boss(es) of this game are straight up luck focused and rage inducing. I have spent so many runs aquiring the most perfect build where I go through encounters like it's nothing, healing after many hits, reloads, refreshes, pegs are more durable so I can get multiple hits, mutliple orbs spawn to other relics. I can literally have the most broken build, and yet this bosses NEVER feel fair. This bosses have killed me so many times in the most frustrating ways and I am giving up. Bosses, especially final bosses should feel like a progression to match your strength yet make you feel like you have some sense of control, and I know it's hard to replicate that in a game that has luck on your side a bit, but previous bosses never had this issue. The final bosses are just straight up badly designed and I don't care enough or feel motivated to look for the exploits to beat this game or to even cheese it, because I shouldn't even want to cheese this game. This game is good, and I hope the developers change this and make it more fun, but I am done, and I'm sorry, but this is the first time in a while where I refund out of frustration. If it becomes better, I'll buy it, but as it is now, I am sorry devs, but games should stay fun, not frustrating, and I care for my mental health. I play games for fun. I recommend it in concept, but execution is frustrating at the final level.
THe game is one that I would recommend if you want to chill and forgeet about whatever is stressing you out. The characters are charming enough, the story never overstays its welcome, the artsyle is very pleasing to look at, and the soundtrack is very well made for the vibe it was going for. My slight complaint towards this game is that one aspect about a character is never really explained even though they alude to it, so it was kind of a letdown to not know what happened in the past with said character. Other than that, this game is really nice.
I really love the start of this game, and I'm 4 hours into it, and I love it. But please CD, PLEASE, Optimize this game, the hardware requirements I definitively meet, but I still play at 30 FPS, how's that possible. I really want to have an amazing experience with this, but if it isn't optimized soon, a lot of people will keep complaining about it like they are on Steam and here
Look, I'll put it this way, if this was the first Hitman game you ever played (Like me), then you will have a hell of a time with this one, it's a very solid game, like, there's nothing to complain here technical wise or graphics wise. This game holds up on those areas pretty well. The problem was halfway through this game that I decided to play the older and newer Hitman games to see why fans despise this game. And I get it, I really do. The game is linear, and even for a first time Hitman player, this game felt extremely linear (Except on that one mission with the 3 redneck dudes at Hope County, that mission is cool). Now, I do like the gameplay, in a way it very much has the same mechanics as any other Hitman, but it lacks any explorable levels in which you can take targets multiple ways, there are levels that can be exceptions, but most of the time it fails to deliver the idea of what Hitman is, an open world where you can kill your targets in the most ridiculous and creative ways possible if desired, but it fails to deliver it so. Now, If you completely move away from this idea, the game is very good, you'll have a hell of a time, just don't do what I did and played halfway through the game the other Hitman games and realize how shallow in comparison this feels. I then felt the need to just complete the game out of respect for it. The story is ok, don't really want to touch on it because I don't have much to say, I like the style, maybe some parts are a little ridiculous but I find them charming and entertaining and I like the idea of redemption in some way for 47. So my conclusion to this game is this: I recommend it for first time Hitman players, as I think this game serves more of a proper introduction to the real stealth of Hitman games in the other titles, especially the new ones, those are amazing. If you're a fan of Hitman who wants to own all the games, play it, you may not like it but it ain't that bad either. 3/5 Good game | Bad Hitman
Let me clarify that I finished the game on easy in my first two hours of gameplay. I feel that this game has amazing potential, I love the concept of fighting with the rhythm and being punished for not keeping up with the beat, but there are some things that I've noticed so far. Some weapons feel OP after the 3rd-4th level, and it's hard to change your weapon once you already get used to one. Maybe that's a good thing, but for me, after halfway through, I didn't change my equipment at all since some items combined such as vampiristic kills + healing improvement practically break the game's difficulty from easy to really easy. The game is still very much an amazing fun experience, but I think they need to rebalance a lot of things and give justification of many weapon's existance. Achievements would've been nice here, but well, what can you do. So I hope they keep updating this game with more content, but know that so far I've had an amazing experience and will definitely keep playing this game. Will start trying other characters and cranking up the difficulty. Keep up the good work.
The only reason this game doesn't have 5 stars for me is because it is... well... obviously not finished, it's in development. But I can tell you that I personally really enjoy the game. Is it buggy? well, yeah at times. Is it unfinished? Duh. Is it fun? Fuck yeah it's fun. They already added another day, and I have very high hopes that when this game is fully released, it will be one of the best sequels out there. When it comes out, I am sure that this review will become irrelevant, because it will not be a 4 star review, it will be a perfect 5 star review for me. So yeah, keep in mind it's still in development, but you can still have some fun with it, a lot of it actually. So go on ahead and enjoy yourself. I Regert NOTHING!
