220+ spells, engaging dark fantasy story, awesome party members to explore incredible locations with, the freedom to approach quests and combat however you want, from any angle, inspiring and epic music when appropriate, excellent quest design where everything feels important and fun, remarkable replayability and the most gorgeous game from this perspective. It has everything. It has stolen my heart and I've played through it 3x on tactician.
I recommend you go watch Angry Joe's review on this as I agree with essentially everything he says on this topic https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=H6QoEUqadW4 The story is incredible, with the most memorable characters from any game I have ever played. The political aspects are fascinating, and everything ties together so beautifully. The open world is one of, if not the largest I've ever seen, but it does something truly special on top of that. Despite being such a large world to explore, there's always something interesting to experience just around the corner. Each location feels hand-crafted and unique, unlike certain other RPGs which fill their game world with generic locations and dungeons. The sound design is truly superb; many times have I listened to these soundtracks on their own merit. Seriously, go play this right now. Go buy it, and tell your friends to buy it as well.
This game surprised me. The story is mature and intelligent, with lots of political intrigue and betrayal, but also dark fantasy elements all around. The characters are well-written and interesting to talk to, with full voice-acting for every encounter. The world is a joy to explore, with a good variety of locales and beautiful environments. The lore is well-developed, with secrets to uncover in unexpected places. I have two complaints about the game. The character progression could be a bit better, with more interesting talent choices/perks. The combat itself has a great foundation but could benefit from more variety in active abilities and less focus on spamming auto attacks + chugging mana potions. Overall, it's an 8.5/10 on my scale which puts an average game at 5. This is a fantastic game, and well worth your money if you enjoyed games like Knights of the Old Republic, The Witcher or Dragon Age series, give this game from a small studio a chance, and it may surprise you.
