Fantastic game, works just as I remember it - even to the point of enemy AIs managing to recover their aircraft after losing control (this is *not* a bug, RTFM). Not only that, it seems I must be have been really unlucky as this doesn't feel any worse than my old Amiga days - one mission I think the AI recovered 5 times before I was defeated. Yes, it does get frustrating, but I guess the devs needed to put some challenge in for the better pilots. It is frustrating that you need to fly Strafing or Bombing runs to improve your stats - even more so that it takes several months of game time for those to start showing up. Anyway, onto the game itself. For those that have never played before, you generally get 1 of 4 missions: Air-to-air combat (patrol, defending a location) and Balloon Bursting take place in a traditional '3-D' flight sim environment. Strafing runs use an isometric style view whilst bombing runs use an overhead/top-down view. You can't - as far as I can ascertain - adjust your speed in the flight sim portion of the game, which doesn't help when your 'plane is faster than your enemies, leading you to overshoot if too close and thereby vulnerable to enemy fire. A fun game, nonetheless.
