Prince of Persia

A lot to offer as a wonderful experience

First, I must confess that I played this game on PS3 rather than PC, but that shouldn't change the fundamentals of what I loved about this game. Let's start by saying I played this game to the end, which is unusual for me, but it really got its hooks into me. The game provides a sublime emotional experience. The visuals are sumptuous. Cleansing an area is invigorating. Performing an especially complex chain is exhilarating. The support character, Erika, is so much more than just a tool for double jumps and the instant "Ooops, reset" mechanic. The dialogue between her and the "prince" is the kind of banter I'm a complete sucker for. She really became the emotional anchor for me when playing the game. The game genuinely moved me. Some notes on the gameplay itself. It's non-linear to the extent you can choose the order in which you want to progress and various routes. There's a lot for completionists to do who want to collect every last orb. The specific input mechanics of the platforming remind me more of a rhythm game than a platformer in many respects. I didn't enjoy the combat as much as the other aspects of the game, and so didn't bother with the intricacies of the combat system, but it's a combat-light game so that wasn't really an issue. Undoubtedly one of the best emotional gaming experiences I've had. And for that reason I can't help but highly recommend this game :-)
