How do I put this, basically I have had a big interest in RPGs all my life, loving PC rpgs in the past. However, I have not owned a Windows PC since 2005, making me miss out on a lot of amazing gems. I always had a big interest in playing The Witcher, even when it released back in 2007, but since I only had consoles at my disposal and I do not like to start a series without playing the first game first, I never got around to trying it. Now for the first time in 13 years I picked up a PC (and a powerful one) and I could not wait to start playing all the RPGs I had not experienced yet. With the black friday sale I picked up a bunch of games on GOG and decided to start off with The Witcher: Enhanced Edition. And boy o boy, what a fun did I had for the past 2 weeks. I got absolutely mesmerized by the quality of the story, the atmosphere of the world, the interesting characters, the fun combat and even more fun alchemy. Normally playing a RPG a lot of the side content out of the main story really feels as filler content, which you only complete because you pay for it. But in the Witcher, nothing felt redundant or boring to participate in. And I have not even talked about the choices you make, in this game there is no playing the good or the bad guy. Every choice is meaningful and generally not black or white, but in a grey area. I had multiple moments where I was just pondering for a couple of minutes before making my dialogue choices, about the possible consequences that my decision could ultimately have. Finally, this is one of the few games where I read all the journal entries, with great intrigue. In short the game is absolutely excellent and I recommend it to everybody, pick up this absolute classic if you have not tried it yet. I got a lot of games that I want to play so I think after the roughly 80+ hours I put into the Witcher I am going to leave the Witcher 2 for now but I will definitely be playing it soon.
