The best RPG I have ever played and I have been playing PC games since the Commodore 64 was the the way to play RPGs. Playing the game from the begining through Witcher 3 gives you certain advantages, since your victorious endings are carried over to the next game. CD PROJEKT RED is simply amazing in their attention to detail in story telling and senic beauty. The Witcher books which take many ideas from actual Polish History, minus the monsters, although some of the actual enimies were considered monsters at the time, have been followed and enhanced within these story lines. I suggest, if you haven't already, buy all the games, read the books and start from the beginning, nice way to enjoy the quiet of winter when your not outside. Finally a very appreciated "Thank You!" to the folks at COG for the upgrade to Witcher 3 Game Of The Year addition. I had all the updates and DLCs already. It is a generous gesture from the folks at COG. It is nice to be remembered as loyal cutomer. Thanks again! I appreciate it! Al
Old school strategy at its best, where well thought out plans can abruptly appear to be foolish risks. The interface is easy to learn with enough information for keeping track of your units and progress or lack there of. Fog of war and AI both appear to be realistic. No capture the flag here, although there is a button to show hidden forces. Tempting to use but you should avoid using it. As the campaign moves toward a resolution, your foolish mistakes or brilliant strategy follow you. These old SSI games have always been my favorite. I played SSI games way back on my C-64. I would like to see COG find all of the old SSI games and bring them back to life. I still have fond memories of the durable "Fifty Mission Crush". It is available with a C-64 emulator, but is rather clunky and unsaveable in that format. All and all a great strategic simulation for any gamer who enjoys a campaign where you need to plan, react and execute while keeping your forces supplied.
As long as you keep an open mind this is an interesting take on an adventure game. Like the Seeker series, the broadcast version differs from the books. I for one enjoy that departure. It gives you a chance to see the story told through different eyes. With that said I would like to see more variations in line with your response. I feel so much time and effort was directed at the graphics and actor interface the story itself is in need of tweaking. When I play a game I enjoy having my actions show some sort of cause and effect. Over all I like this game just hope for more in the future.
