The Elder Scrolls III: Morrowind GOTY Edition

The game I enjoyED the most...

I played morroind with the first GOTY edition. It was unbelievable. I sank hours long in the game. WHen I think about my best gaming memories, they go to morrowind, exploring this huge world, these incredible dungeons. FOr me, Oblivion and skyrim never surpassed the impression of freedom morrowinf gave me. This being said, I'm not sure it would be possible to enjoy it so much nowadays. The gameplay is horrible, the graphics have grown old. I am thankfull to have been able to play this game at the time it was the best you could imagine. Because right now, I think that if you comme from skyrim, you can only be disapointed. Unles you like oldies, and hate what gaming looks like now. I, for sure, wouldn't be able to finish bloodmoon (a thing that I never did despite the thousands of hours I spent playing). This game will always have a peculiar place in my hearth, but I don't thing it's possible to say that it is an experience everyone should have today

Pillars of Eternity: Hero Edition

Exactly what was promised !!!!!!!

I have been playing for 6 hours now, and the feeling is exactly the same as the one I felt when I tried Baldur's gate for the first time. Everything in this game is well achieved, from the interface to the music, the graphics to the ambiant sound. It has this immersive "book in which you are the hero" feeling. There is indeed a lot of text, with a top notch writing. This game has been made with passion, for the players, and you feel it. The only negative point I can find just now is that it doesn't invent anything. This is a top down role playing game revamp, with new story, new world and new engine. But If you liked the behemots of the genre, and are avid to explore some new place, do not hesitate. It is their rightfull child. Game of the year it is

Lichdom: Battlemage

Try it. You must try it. FUN as hell !

As a huge RPG player, I spent hours looking for user reviews of this game. The way it is depicted doesn't sell well I'm affraid. But you should try it, because although it is really linear, it is sur a lot of fun. There are tons of things to experiment with the spell system, and this title as that badass feeling you expect from a magic oriented title. More over, it is beautiful, and the immersion in this world is great. There is not much thng to say about the plot, wich is just passable, uninteresting for the most part, and falsely complicated. I just regret they didn't focus on something simpler, eg you are in a magic school and discover your powers before going experimenting into the wild. It would have been less cliché. This is an overall good game, and the last versions showed that the developpers care about their public with some improvements in the interface. This isn't a game you play for the RPG aspect. This is a game you play for the FUN and the originality of the gameplay. There is much to explore and I'll be digging it until the real RPG's come out (pillars of eternity and the witcher)

NEO Scavenger

Fear of death omnipresent

Neo scavenger made me shiver... That something I had not experienced for a long time with a video game. The beauty of this title is that every piece of crap you gather is important because it could save your life. So when you think you have some decent gear, every encounter is thrilling, as you never know what to expects from the individuals. There is nothing quite like the feeling, when you stumble upon some strong oponent, and using ruse you manage to take him out, and emerge from the fight with some incredible new loot (and by incredible i mean some warm shirt, some shoes, maybe a weapon if you are lucky, some concentrated soup) one broken rib some scratches and a bleeding wound, you really feel like you are facing the end of the world. Give a try to the free version, i'ts worth your time, and you will understand that the game is worth your money. A lot.

AI War Collection

The depth is overwhelming

I read a few review from GOG players about this game. THey convinced me to give it a try. And her goes the wow... I took me 10 hours to finish the tutorials. And I just scratched the surface of the complexity of this game. The strategical mechanism are here, if you play smart, you win, if you just press attack, you lose. For one situation there are a 10 ways to react, and each one offers 10 other gameplay possibilities. The best 4X game I have ever played, with so much to discover that it continues to surprise the gamers that started it when it was first launched 5 years ago. A living community, with a real proximity with the developpers. A real challenging game (the developpers say that if you beat the hardest level, it must be a glitch). The AI is incredible, totally parametrable. Ton of expansions have been applied over ther years, the game is rebalanced every now and then to make sure the experience is still enjoyable. You should definitely give it a try.
