BEAUTIFUL DESOLATION

Almost, almost

I don't wish to critique too heavily on this game - I realise there's only so much that such a small team can do. The good: nice scenery, nice score, nice story The not-so-good: finding items - you have to run all over one area to get them, there's no indication until you're very close; pathing - on some areas it's not easy to tell how you go from A to B; transportation - the warden gates are not a bad idea, but the ammount of backtracking just makes them annoying; lack of a proper quest log - sometimes it's just hard to know what to no/where to go next, the todo list is very spartan. All in all, a decent effort, could've been much more given more resources.

Blackwell Bundle

Some good. some bad

Short and to the point: Convergence and Deception use a more recent version of the game engine and are much nicer to play. They also have better stories, music and voice acting IMO. The first two installments (Legacy and Unbound) quite honestly made me cringe (blocking UI, flickering graphics - I played DOS adventures that were way smoother). Didn't even finish those, so I can't really comment on the story. All in all, not a bad deal.

VirtuaVerse

Very good cyberpunk adventure

The story: while not mind-blowingly original, is good and not cliche. The music: immersive and appropriate with the theme. The puzzles: if you expect to solve them half-asleep and with a big hangover, then this is not for you. You'll probably get stuck a couple of times, but so what? I think they're well thought and in line with "the scene". Graphics: just one word: beautiful! This game was created by one coder, one artist and one musician. Hats off! I guess this game will appeal more to old farts like me, but if you liked Monkey Island, Broken Sword, etc, then I think you'll enjoy it.
