The Witcher: Enhanced Edition

5th Playthrough and NOT Overrated.

The Witcher: EE is detailed in ideas, rich in story, and blew my mind on every new playthrough. Fan's of the Witcher 2 and 3 may not like many aspects of the first in the series, however there's much to appreciate in it to see how far the Witcher francise has become. This game was like big brother or sister who was the first to tackle the competitive [gaming] world which gave way for its younger siblings. A lot of the game styles are still here and RPG player will appreciate the depth, details, and decisions this world will take you through. Some reviwers who consider the Witcher Overated is not giving it a fair analysis. I agree that the combat system is dull, hit detection is off, and travelling can be tedious. However, you must consider that this is a 2007 game and CDPROJEKT first 'Hello World' game. For a small Polish company we never heard before to produce this rich and intense world was breathtaking for its time. To compare to the standards between the first game flaws to its newer and imporved releases [4 years later] is just a bad reviewing. The main story is liner like most of the game but I always felt the urge to go into the wild or check a corner alley in Vizima. There's a sense of adventure throughout the game and the skill tree and alchemy compliments the gameplay so players want to consider all precautions before venturing through the dangerous unknown. This element and feeling of the Witcher is captivating and players will always keep wondering what will happen next. This game is a great example on why players want to play a good RPGs. It's not what the developers want you to be by building a world for you to be what the develpoers tell you to, but to build a world for the players to see themselves be who they want to be in the world. This is why we love games like this and its series.
