What can be said about the classic AD&D Gold Box Series by SSI that hasn't already been said? I started with Pool of Radiance, Curse of the Azure Bonds, and Secret of the Silver Blades on the Commodore 64, and had the rest of the series on the PC. The fact that GoG has the entire series available for people today is nothing short of wonderful. This is still my favourite RPG series on the PC, and I have a feeling it always will be. Just remember: Hired NPCs are expendable, and usually carry Pretty Good Stuff™ to upgrade your 1st level characters. ;-)
