This is another example of how you shouldn't make a game. The world feels absolutely empty. Every place you visit feels like you are already finished after 2 minutes, because there is nothing to do and nobody to care about. Already after the first 10 minutes you get the feeling of having seen everything and everyone in the whole game. The problem is not that the world is small. But the possibilities are limited to an amount, that the game itself feels empty. Characters, interaction and progress is almost non-existent. It feels, as if you are stumbeling in a world full of doom where the only thing you are going to see is the evil guys doormat. I had the best laugh when entering Caldera - the so called main city in the game. I don't know what you think of a main city, but in my assumption a CITY has a bit more then 5 houses and 10 inhabitants. This was down right laughably painfull to explore - and it is only one flaw of the many unused possibilities. Risen 2 not even scratches on the surface of what could have been a good and promising pirate setting. Very disappointing.
