Thronebreaker: The Witcher Tales

Good story, bad combat

I will start, by saying, that I loved the game, the story was well told, with interesting characters. The problem is, that while there was a lot of potential in the combat system, how you have to build a deck based on what units you have available, especially regarding your companions, all is wasted, because the AI is terrible, and even the enemy decks are terrible, even on the hardest difficulty. There are minor moral choices, which are presented well, from a storytelling aspect, eg. fight some bandits, because they are terrorizing the locals, or don't fight them, because we need all the strength for the war, but the battles are not only way too easy, they don't have any effect on your army. You either win, and continue on as if nothing had happened, despite the story going on about heavy losses, or (somehow) loose, and Game Over, so you try the battle again, until you win. It would've been much more interesting, if every non story battle were to use some of your resources, and if you loose, you still continue on, but loose even more resources. That way those choices would mean something. Also, the way the resource gathering works is just mobile-game busywork, and at the end i walked around with 60000 gold with nothing to spend it on, so the other kind of moral choices, where you can eg. buy things from peasants with money, or take it with force also became meaningless. Despite all this, as I said I recommend the game, maybe wait for a sale, but the story really caries it.
