To be honest, i only played the first one: it was pretty "hard" for me to send money to buy the sequels back in USA. You know, the ocean and like of online payments didnt help. But, it was a GREAT game. Good graphics for the time, variety, solid platofrming action. I dbout someone is going to try it unless he played it back then or he already received a push from some friend, but just in case: this is an old-school platformer. You have to go from point A to point B of the level, and you choose the level to play from a larger overworld map-level. As bonuses, you can occasionally turn into other animals (i love the phoenix) that allows you to explore better the maps. No bosses, but there are enemies and you can die. Lots of stuff to pick up, lots of levels to explore, it was just pure old-school fun.
I was convinced by all the 5stars enthusiastic review.... only to find a mediocre sequel to PG1. The intro and outro text for the campaign is greatly reduced (it was my favourite part, to know what was happening overall); the graphic sprites are now arguably better, but also less distintive which make it harder to know what unit you are using without inspecting it; the artillery is way overpowered (4 of range, and unlimited defense cover fire!) and anti-tank guns are totally useless since now, even for 1-hext trips, they need to be loaded on guns which means they always get slaughtered if you are on the offense. As for the gameplay, they didnt fix the "rush until the end" system, even if they seems to be giving more time. And finally, even if it is a feature you would always block after some time, there are no mor the videos for the single battles between units but only a small animation on the map. Meh, if you have to choose between 1 and 2, stick with PG1.
