the game starts out well then begins to stutter when it gets to the end of the first chapter, then it kind of falls apart for a long time before beginning a recovery in parts of the third while the fourth chapter is almost on the same level as the first. As to how it plays well its a typical 90s fps, complex levels with lots of secrets and is generally very different from fps of today which are all about progression rather than exploration. I played the original DOOM recently and adjusted to the old style controls very well but not so with this game. after trying and failing to alter the controls due to the game not letting me open the required files I found eduke32, this allowed me to make use of the more modern fps controls that the game had tried to hide from me. Overall the game plays nicely and looks aren't bad considering its age, I enjoyed the game and would recommend it but you could easily cut out nearly two thirds of the levels and be left with something so much better.
