Build your party of six companions, determine their skills, professions, and stats and enter the ancient castle where you’ll find treasure, armor, and powerful magic items to advance your quest. Meet the fortress' wizened and cryptic dwellers who hold secrets that must be unearthed and solve the riddles and puzzles that abound. Beware, however, as you and your party of stalwart adventurers will encounter countless dangers, hazards, and creatures of dazzling and terrifying form. Wizardry 6 and 7 saw the biggest jump in graphical improvements in the WIZARDRY series, and I feel like created the next step in how RPG games of this nature would look. SIR-TECH was way ahead of the game from their first WIZARDRY game and continued to stay ahead; until they closed their doors (just as WIZARDRY 8 was being made). I would highly recommend these games if you enjoy a good dungeon crawl (with Wizardry 7 taking place outside of a dungeon, ironically enough).
Wizardry 7 is (together with Wiz8 and Amberstar) one of my top 3 favorite CRPGs. It has great turn-based combat and amazing character progression. Compared to W8 i would say it has worse dialogue system (you can't store topics for following conversations), but it has IMO better atmosphere, riddles and dungeons.
Bane of the Cosmic Forge was the 1st PC game i bought and as such, it holds a place dear to my heart.
I still have the 3.5" floppy install disks, the beautiful comprehensive manual and that pesky Magic Word booklet.
However, don't take this comment lightly. I'm not looking at this thru rose tinted nostalgia glasses. This game is really, really great. It is possibly one of the most addictive games I have played in my life and my heart leapt with joy when I saw this on GOG.
One word of advice. Roll, roll and re-roll you chars. It is worth it, and ultimately, necessary. This is a hardcore RPG!
I remember Wiz 7 DOS very well. I had the german translation. And the text parser was broken. No translation of "any rumours". A very nice game, but you could not finish it in the translation. Wiz 7 Gold is new for me - the speech output has low quality today, but the - still too colorful - graphics are the same. And the rattkin bandits ambush kills again my party.
But now the important Wiz7 Gold on Windows 10 stuff: Right click on the Icon, select "Behandeln von Kompatibilitätsproblemen". In the popup window select "Empfohlene Einstellungen testen". In the next popup window click button "Programm testen...". These clicks give you mouse and keyboard input.

Only 4 points out of 5 because the game is DIFFICULT. And the rolling of dice to get good characters is still a waste of time.
Wizardry 6 plays just fine. Quite an interesting nostalgia trip. But HUGE caution, Wizardry 7 does not play. It jsut loops on an intro endlessly. I have been waiting about 15 minutes since I last restarted it, and it still hasnt started. The 2 stars are for how good 6 is, but it is sad that 7 is unplayable.
