Command a squad of up to 20 Space Marines and pursue the evil Chaos horde though the Warhammer 40,000 universe! CHAOS GATE is squad-level, turn-based tactical action that pits you against Chaos Lord Zymran, in an attempt unravel the mystery of an ancient relic.

Your command begins with a choice: pursue the game plot immediately or take on any number of random missions to gain experience and power for your squad. Whichever you choose, prepare for the unexpected – and tactical combat that’s utterly out of this world!

As SSI’s second entry in the Warhammer 40,000 universe, Chaos Gate marries the lore of the 40,000 universe with the strategic depth of an SSI game and creates an engaging experience that further glorifies the Emperor and the Adeptus Astartes’ Legacy.




  • Battle Chaos Space Marine forces and their daemonic allies across the galaxy in a Campaign of 15 linked scenarios or explore randomly generated missions to gain power for your Ultramarine troops.
  • Create and customize a squad from a Space Marine contingent of 50 different soldiers, each with unique characteristics and capabilities - including Terminators, Assault Marines and Devastator Squads.
  • Build custom missions with the extremely flexible Mission Editor.
  • Command the vehicles of the Warhammer 40,000 universe: Predator tanks, Rhino APCs, Land Speeders and Dreadnoughts.

1.2 GOG v6 changelog (27 April 2022):
  • Added full DirectX emulation to improve performance and visuals.
  • Added new rendering options including Windowed Mode, V-Sync, Gamma Correction, Integer Scaling, Anti-Aliasing, and more.
  • Fixed issues with resolution switching that could cause crashes or weird behavior.
  • Credits menu now scrolls at the right speed, and the music plays as it should.
  • Map Editor has been fixed and is ready for action.
  • Alt+Tab task switching works properly again.
  • Multiplayer mode is now functional: gather your team!
  • Fixed a bug where items would randomly vanish from your inventory.
  • Resolved launch issues caused by long installation paths.
  • Quitting the game now actually quits the game. Imagine that.
  • Stability validated.
  • Fully compatible with Windows 11.

  • Fixed a typo in the game’s registry configuration to ensure settings apply correctly.

  • Added support for Windows 10.

  • Fixed the "Installation Broken" status in GOG Galaxy. Your game should now show up as installed and ready to play.

  • Fixed sound issues that affected users with a Russian system locale. Everything should now play loud and clear.

  • Added support for Windows XP, Vista, and 7.
  • Fixed music playback issues so the soundtrack plays as intended.
  • Fixed crashes when loading into missions. You can now deploy without fear.
  • Fixed a crash when Cultists launched their attacks. They’re dangerous, but not that dangerous.
  • Fixed the crash when adding an Apothecary to your squad. Healing is back on the menu.
  • Fixed crashes during Terminator attacks. They’ll still hit hard, just not your game.
  • Adjusted map scrolling speed for smoother navigation.

Price is sick

10 euro? Really? For a game from 1998? Game is great, but price is TOO BIG. I won't buy Chaos Gate, until price drops in some discount.

Worst Game... PERIOD

I have NEVER played a game so poorly designed. Enemies shoot at you and hit, but you can't even see them. SERIOUSLY unbalanced and BROKEN. I got this game as a free giveaway and I STILL feel ripped off. I want the hours of my life wasted on this game back. Yeah, that'll happen haha SERIOUSLY THOUGH: -DO-NOT-BUY-THIS-GAME-

Good game, but not sure for price...

Great game, but did not do well with time. What I find also mind-blowing is base price of this old game, and this brings one of reasons I hardly purchase anything anymore from GoG - seriously you think this game is worth $10?? I really dislike this change in gog.com.
