Ultima™ IV: Quest of the Avatar

Never played a rpg before Ultima IV (had a C-64) and didn't know quite what to expect. But when I opened the box and found a totally engrossing game manual and spell book (I read them numerous times too) I was hooked. It was pure magic for me when I first loaded up the game and followed the introduction and was told my "fate" by the fortune teller. I spent so many hours with a notepad next to me scribbling down notes while exploring the many wonders of Britannia. This game is a true gem.

Compassion, Valor, Justice, Humility, Spirituality, Honesty, Honor, and Sacrifice. The first of 3 games in the Age of Enlightenment (Ultima IV, V, and VI) Ultima IV was really a mind blowing experience for me as a young gamer. I am not going into details because I'm too busy loading the game up, since it's free, grab it and try it out. There are lots of resources online that'll help you quickly play through this classic CRPG.

I have nothing to say. This game must be played.

Any low score review for this game is just wrong. I have never been one to care about graphics. To me, it's all about gameplay. And this gem has it in spades. The first Ultima was the game that got me started on computer RPG's, but it was this one that made my love for them concrete. You owe it to yourself to try this classic, especially if you love RPG's.

Quite possibly the best RPG ever made. It was arguably improved upon in the future but this is what started it all at least for me. The game that really put Ultima as the grand master of RPG's in computer gaming in the 80's and the early 90's.
