The game is based on Andrzej Sapkowski's literary saga and follows the adventures of Geralt of Rivia, a professional monster hunter who becomes embroiled in a war between kingdoms and a prophecy about the end of the world. The game is notable for its complex and branching storyline, where every decision the player makes has consequences for the development and outcome of the plot. In addition, the game boasts impressive graphics, which recreate the landscapes and characters of The Witcher universe in great detail, and a masterful soundtrack, which accompanies the player on their travels and in combat. However, the game is not without its technical problems, especially since the release of the "Next-Gen Update" a year ago. This update was intended to improve the game's performance and graphical quality, adding features such as ray tracing and DX12 mode, but it actually worsened the game's stability and gameplay. Many users have reported that the game freezes and closes suddenly, that there are graphical and sound errors, and that the game does not work properly with most modern graphics cards. It seems that CD Projeckt Red, the developer of the game, has not put enough effort and attention into fixing these bugs, and that every patch they release to fix them only makes them worse. It's a shame to see such a good game ruined by technical mismanagement. So, if you want to enjoy the game without so many problems, I recommend you to play the 1.32 version of the game, which is the most stable and fluid, or use the DX11 mode of the current version, which although it is not perfect, at least it will allow you to play without so many setbacks.

First time playing it seriously, and I like the stories in this game. They don't feel like daunting tasks in an "open world" to grind your way through, but as a fully fleshed out world you could come back without knowing exactly what would happen to you next. And the [exceptionally well optimized] ray-traced next gen version looks drop dead gorgeous on an AMD GPU with a little help from FSR, thank goodness.

A true 'Role-Playing' experience. You play as a very specific character, and the story is a long-running adventure that's had some tales already play out - this game drops you right into things. If, like I was, you aren't familiar with the backstory, your going to be confused, but it actually plays to the gaming experience, since it's all fresh and exciting - branching storylines like crazy. Choices can lead to serious consequences. Combat system is finesse-based, usually fighting groups or single enemies with a range of magic powers and potions/poisons. An acquired taste to be sure. Dark, horrific olde european fairytale setting (the DLC region is like a gigantic fantasy brittania valley). Also, the gaming experience can be kinda...'raw.' As in, it plays like a pc rpg and not like gta. It's a beautiful tale nonetheless. Definitely worth playing at least once.

The story, gameplay music and just about everything in this game gets 5/5 stars here, but you've probably heard that already multiple time. What really impresses me in 2025 though is the optimization. This game doesn't really look much worse that current AAA titles while having laughable hardware requirements by today's standards. Yes, features like Ray-Tracing and similar do make a difference but this game still wins in the visual/performance ratio and you will have no problem playing it a modern laptop
