The Curse of Monkey Island™

THIS is the Monkey Island on GOG I was waiting for! I bought this when it was first released and I loved it then, but of course, Windows Xp came along and basically scuppered my chances of getting the CD-rom version to ever run again. I was waiting for many a year and now it's finally on GOG and it runs perfectly! This game still looks lovely in 2019 - thanks to some excellent cut-scenes and the beautiful hand-drawn backgrounds and graphics. No, Monkey Island is not THE point and click adventure game to measure all others against (only games magazines would tell you that - and they don't even play the games) but this one above all the others really stands the test of time and in my opinion, does not even need a re-master. The remasters of 1 and 2 feel forced and unnatural. Definitely get this one - the sound effects, puzzles, voice acting and humour all come together to form a very strong point and click adventure. And another relaxing, stress free experience is guaranteed.

This game is a masterpiece, one of the only dozen or so really worthwile PC games in the history of gaming. For years I have yearned for a digital release featuring the original english voiceacting, since in the olden days we Germans only got the german dub. Sadly the sound quality of this port is sub-par, with stuttering issues. And being only a ScummVM-rip, it lacks the handdrawn menu screen of the original, instead we have an ass-ugly ScummVM menu

... and I loved it! If you played the previous 2 titles you know what to expect. Humorous sometiems verbose dialogues, with witty puzzles beautiful art design and music. The music score is one of the best I must say. You can see whole lot of people playing on guitar on youtube. You know it's hard to bring back the time these types of games were a mandatory for gamers. You can bring back time with this masterpiece and with less or no violence I can recommend it for young folks!

Its been nearly 20 years since I first played Curse. Came across it looking for something to play with my girl that would keep her attention. Que Guybrush. I could remember doing some of the puzzles but they still were knew. My girl and I had a great time playing and highly recomend any couple looking to work together and have a great laugh doing it!

The Curse Of Monkey Island has long been my favorite in the MI series and one of my favorite point n click adventure games in the genre. It helps to have played the previous two but this title stands on its own pretty well. The writing and acting are fantastic and Dominic Armato was the perfect choice to voice guybrush in his first talkie, He really understood the character and I cant imagine guybrush without his voice. The characters you meet are varied and a delight and the game never slows down and becomes boring, the puzzles are quite challenging, requiring you to think outside the box a bit at times, and there are precious few that suffer from 'Try everything in your inventory with everything on screen'. The music fits every scene greatly and dialogue options will have you playing the game several times trying to get all of it. And the visuals, wow, when they advertise movie quality I'd say they hit their mark! To make this point, consider this Windows 95 era game didnt need a remaster: It's THAT good. Truly one of LucasArts finest games.
