Amazing action firework

Not being in discount at summer sale, this time I decided to buy a cheaper discounted version of this game from a competitor. It was a big mistake to wait for a sale at gog, because this game is awesome and an absolute must play. Pros: - moderate system requirements - playing a different side story like a movie of the terminator franchise - amazing artwork - interesting little tech tree to invest exp points - optimized in having game fun - perfect mixture of action, stealth parts and exploration. Not so boring like deus ex or the thief series. - being right in the middle of the action from the beginning until the end of the game - sometimes pure action firework - big variety in mission design - superb synthie soundtrack and sound effects Cons: - do yourself a favor and forget about it

A good game overall

Title says it all. This game is a nice FPS in the Terminator universe, as you play a soldier who is trying to survive, with is friends at the apocalypse created with Skynet. Game as nice gameplay element were you can tinker with your weapon, create DIY excplosives to fight the robots that can range to a regular terminator, to a small silverfish or be HUGE bipedal tank. The fight mechanics are nice and you need to be careful not to take more than you can chew. But sometimes, fighting is a lost cause, and you have to stealthily dodge them. You have allies in this game, and they count on you, and you need to listen to them, it will give you element of their backstory and you'll learn more about them as it is an important story element. And the story is really good, and the Annihilation line DLC really enhance that. There are a few flaws thought. Melee and weapon seems weak, un-impactful. Melee looks like you just wave a pipe, and some weapon sound are maybe a bit too weak. But those are minor points, and the game is still good if you're looking at a Terminator RPG FPS that sometimes, remind a bit of Metro Exodus.

Simple and effective

This is the best Terminator game made to this day. And probably the best Terminator content released since 1991. The game doesn't try to reinvent the wheel. But mostly everything it does, it does it well. At it's core it's a regular FPS, some elements of open world (small/medium maps but you are free to roam around). It has multiple endings, romances, sidequests, iconic weapons from the movies, etc... The best thing is the adition of the Infiltrator free update. A mode where you play a Terminator infiltrator (like arnie in the movies) on a big map and you gather informations to track down a commander of techcom. You can't save, but it's random. I wish they made a whole game around this. That game is the worthy successor of Skynet and Future Shock.

The 'real' Terminator 3.

Is it perfect? Not at all. The AI is a bit dumb (still dangerous, though), the map levels are often linear (though not always), and you'll feel like you're throwing spit wads at the Terminator units for half the campaign (though really, I would argue that this helps to preserve the 'unstoppable killing machines' trope of the first film). But now, we're on to the good aspects of the game: The devs absolutely 'nailed' the 80's VHS post-apocalypse atmosphere depicted briefly at the beginning of Terminator 1. The bleak, grayish lighting, the well-implemented film grain effect, and the absolutely 'perfect' soundtrack make for what is, unqeustionably, the most faithful depiction of the dark world of Terminator to date. The difficulty is highly customizable, even in-game. Anything from HUD disabling/limiting to enemy and character health display disabling and navigation marker removal is free for the player to tweak at their whim. This is a welcome change from the AAA insistence on wresting any and all control from the player's hands, and I hope to see it more often from middle-market and indie developers. The storyline completely ignores everything that happens after T2, and as one of the remaining Terminator fans, I couldn't be happier. This alone was reason enough for me to have bought this game on Steam (wish I had known about GOG sooner, but I digress), but the fan-service (which is actually good and fitting here, and not lame) made the experience even better. If you're a fan of the series, the plot twists probably won't come as much of a surprise to you, but are still a nice wink and nod to classic Terminator. All in all, I would rate this game as a solid 8.5.10 After enduring an onslaught of increasingly bad works of fan-fiction that dared to call themselves 'Terminator films', I can finally say that 'Jugdement Day' has the sequel it deseerves. Buy it or face termination!

Must buy for Terminator Fans

A Terminator game that happens right before the events of Terminator 2 - Judgement Day. It's an average shooter with light RPG elements. What makes it stand out is the Terminator 2 licence and Teyon uses it well. Elements to consider: - Overall atmosphere is great - FPS mechanics are average at best - Story is all right, not bad but not spectacular either If you are a Terminator fan then it's a must buy. If not, then it's propably not for you.
