Surprisingly, very good game!

Yes, graphics and, especially, animations look quite simple and poor, but there is so many interesting gameplay mechanics in this game! You can craft items, open doors and crates with lockpicking, you can hack enemy turrets and they start shooting your enemies, there is a stealth with takedowns, there is character leveling up with skills to pick, weapon upgrades and more. There is even dialogues with various characters and there is a set of choices with consequences (actually, one level is named "Consequences"). And there Fallout-style ending where world state is described in set of pictures which changes based on your decisions made in game. Overall, this is not linear shooter, but more like action-RPG with multiple endings. And last, but not least - atmosphere. It is great! If you liked Future War parts from two first films - this is a game you will like. It is clearly based on first two films and there is nothing from third and later films which I especially like. Story is quite interesting and got some interesting choices for player to make. There is even a few attempts to make a plot twist at some points. Sound effects and music is a surprisingly good too. Great game for a Terminator fan!

Best thing from The Terminator since '91

This is essentially Fallout meets The Terminator, made with less money than Fallout 4's marketing budget. If that sounds like I'm being disparaging, quite the opposite. Teyon have done a great job with the money they had and have crafted a game that truly feels like a sequel/prequel to the Terminator movies (all 2 of them). I played through on the hardest difficulty, and while at first it was certainly far too easy like others have said (I think I only died twice over the course of the first 2/3rds of the game), after the mid-March 2020 update the difficulty is MUCH improved. Terminators are much more lethal, they track you more thoroughly, and getting past them is much more of a challenge (I lost count of how many times I died post-update). I also found ammo to be much more scarce post-update. There were quite a few times I had to fall back on conventional weapons after my plasma guns ran out of ammo, whereas pre-update I never had that problem. Graphics-wise the game looks fine, if not as eye-popping as most current gen titles. The facial animations are generally rather poor, but never overly distracting. Given the budget the game was made with, they're certainly acceptable. Same goes for the voice acting - it's fine but not up there with the likes of Mass Effect and such. Nonetheless the characters are likeable and the actors give great delivery most of the time. On the down side, some of the more tedious elements involve scavenging for crafting materials, as well as the lock-pick and hacking mini-games (the latter of which is basically Frogger and the former is lifted straight from Fallout). While it never got to the point where I just wanted to skip these things, it does get rather repetitive. The optional SkyNET bases can be a chore too, but you can just ignore them if you want. Overall, if you're a fan of the Terminator movies, this comes highly recommended.

Hidden gem for fans!

How did a game with this licence get released with so little attention? And yet, after playing it I can say it is THE BEST terminator game there ever was! If you always wanted to play a game based on the future of 2029 depicted in Terminator 1 and 2, this is the game for you. Every detail is spot on, most of the game is in the bleak and dark city ruins, looking exactly like in the movies. To make it more interesting, there are few missions in other locations as well. Gameplay is a bit like mix of Deus Ex and Fallout, or Dishonored - you have missions with interludes in shelters, you gain experience and learn skills, collect weapons, tradable objects and resources for crafting, gameplay is almost emergent :). Story is competent and better than what you get from usual videogame story and much better than what is usually found in licenced games. Some dialogs could be better, but the game really does not stand on dialogs. And in the end (after mission lovingly recreated from movie) you even get slideshow for different characters, Fallout style! Only other games that come even close to this are Terminator:Future Shock and Terminator: Skynet, but while good, those are really dated and janky as every Bethesda games. AI could be better here, but given the fact that you can't save everywhere and that for good part of the game a single terminator is a really strong enemy (and is often encountered in groups), I think it would be too hard if enemies were smarter, coordinated and chased you better and for longer time. Maybe people who say the game is too easy did not play later missions? Also the game does not work with themes from later Terminator movies, which is good if you ask me :) I have read that the game looks bad. It runs on Unreal Engine 4 and looks exactly like the movies, what is bad about that? This is a game by fans for fans! Highly recommended!

The Terminator 3 that should have been

As a game this product doesnt do anything special. Simple shooting mechanics, light RPG elements, somewhat linear gameplay, easy difficulty (I played on extreme and I cant call it anything, but medium difficulty) and the story is only suited to those who are familiar with the franchise, specifically. the first 2 movies. But boy, what an experience it was. The soundtrack was great, set the tone perfectly. The visuals arent anything special, neither is the artwork, but they work were well to give the feeling of the dystopian future setting. I enjoyed the characters, got immersed in my role and had a good time going through this adventure. And thats what was important. There isnt much replay value beyond the 8 hours it took me to beat the game, but that is fine. So summary, if you are a fan of the first 2 movies, this is a must. If you have no idea about the Terminator franchise, especially the first 2 movies, dont bother at all.
