Beautiful adventure

Finally an adventure that's doesn't feel rushed. I love this Syberia for doing something that's becoming rare and rarer these days, it takes its time to draw you in in its beautiful world and doesn't rush to its conclusion. Sure it's not perfection. the story is not the most original you could hope and puzzles never get challenging, but you may find a lot of beauty in it and, strangely, some clockwork, escape room style puzzles that fit perfectly in this world. For those concerned about the woke the're just a hint of it at the very beginning, tacked on as usual. Best to ignore it and move on, since the real Kate comes back soon and stays through the whole game.

Неожиданно хорошо

После третьей части я не ждал много от этой игры, но как я был рад ошибиться. Игра рассказывает интересную, постояяно удивляющую, историю. Вернулась таинственность первых частей, утраченная и превращенная в простую сказку в третьей части. Картинка, в сравнении с прошлой игрой, стала куда сочнее и интереснее. Архитектура старого города напоминает Валадилену, хоть и намного более детализированную. Модели персонажей не столь хороши, как окружение, всю игру меня раздражали отсуствие локтей и пальцы в растопырку у людей с которыми общалась Кейт. Вернулось ощущение, что мир, и этот старый город - это увядаяющий и сгибающийся под натиском нового электронного мира кроходный отголосок сказки, хоть и не так явно как это было в первой части. Очень много отсылок и референсов к первой части, что не могло не радовать. А вот историю рассказанную в третьей части скомкали и отправлили в пустоту уже в прологе. Музыка перекочевала с третьей части без изменений, как мне показалось. Хоть история и интересная и увлекательная, подается она как для умственно отсталых людей - с постоянными пережевываниями одной и той же информации раз за разом. Загадки стали намного проще, не то, что в сравнении со второй или первой частью, а даже в сравнении с третьей.

Good so far

After the disappointing third game this one shines. The controls are good, the puzzles are just what you expect, the voice acting solid. Can't say much about the story without spoiling too much. Sadly, also this time the voice of Kate Walker sounds completely different than the rest, like it was done with a mobile voice recorder. I don't know why they can't manage to bring her voice actress to the same recording studio as the others or at least send her a good microphone. It still has some of the weaknesses of earlier games, like the hotspot locations. If there is a large piece of paper, why can't I just click anywhere on the area? No, there is one specific point on that piece of paper that needs to be clicked. At least that point is marked now when the mouse enters that object. This becomes annoying when part of the object including the hotspot is off camera. If you don't like Sokal-Adventures, you should not touch this one, it's made in the same spirit, even if some of the weaknesses are gone. You got to like that style, otherwise you will be disappointed. If you didn't play them already, grab Syberia 1 and 2 first, they can often be found discounted or for free. This game has many references to the previous games. Also this way you can see if you like the narrative style.

Excellent adventure, one of the best

In this wonderful adventure, the protagonist, Kate Walker, is following the traces of Dana Roze. It is very much the same kind of story line as the first part of the Syberia series, where she follows the traces of Hans Voralberg. Like the first game where she does not know if Hans still lives, she does not know if Dana is still alive. The ending is also very similar, almost identical. But the story in this adventure goes deeper and carries more emotions. The rendered 3D models of The World Before are incredibly beautiful. I also liked the slow pacing of the game, which is compatible with the emations it evokes. For instance, the optional "introspections": I went gratefully through all of them. The puzzles may be a bit scarce, but some of them are very well done. For instance, repairing the automatons on the museum square, culminating in Kate playing the Vaghen symphony is a really amazing puzzle in my opinion. So for me a full 5 stars without any doubt.
