I feel I must join the angry crowd: this is not the Windows version of Simcity 2k. It is the DOS version, emulated with DOSbox. The advantage is that it works quite well, but it is definitely inferior than the windows version, with worse controls and all the caveats of DOSbox.

Unlike the latest 2013 incarnation. This game you can actually play! Anytime you want!

I admit my first SimCity game was SC3000 Unlimited, but the fact that I owned the sequels to 2000 didn't stop me from buying it, nor did the fact that this is a DOSbox game. Frankly, I loved the sequels, but this game is just epic. The newspapers crack me up all the time and are helpful to boot, the cities are challenging to build, and the scenarios are well thought out (and researched in some cases, like Flint, Michigan). This game WILL eat your time like no tomorrow, and if you own a netbook or laptop, will easily be a good game for your lunch breaks, family visits, or just plain goofing off. Also: type "torg" without quotations for the Grot Box feature (everything unlocked) and 500,000 dollars, makes a good sandbox/practice mode.
