Silent Hill 4: The Room

I'm so ecstatic to finally be able to play Silent Hill 4! This port is pretty solid without running into any issues as far as I can tell. I had to reconfigure the controls for my controller, but the game is perfectly enjoyable. As soon as I heard about this game being released on this website, I purchased it. Silent Hill 4 is one of the few installments in the series I have yet to finish. As a huge fan of the Silent Hill games, I'm happy I have the option to finally play this game without having to pay quite a bit for the original PlayStation 2 copy. I hope this paves the way for Silent Hill 2 and 3 to be available for purchase on GOG's platform, as PC ports already exist for both of these games. If we're lucky we might get other games in the series as well.

It has the 16:9 fix so it feels like a modern full-screen game at the correct aspect ratio. Shame they didn't add soft shadows, as the real-time shadows option looks terrible. Please release Silent Hill 2, 3, 4, fix 5, port 6. Go ahead and remake #1 with Ray Tracing while you're at it.

We definitly need MORE! Having FINALLY a legal and safe way to own the games digitally is such a relief. And this port is MUCH BETTER than the HD Collection for SH2/3 that doesn't even let you use the OG dub for SH3.. Please GOG, bring more SH games!!

Now I don't hav to buy an $80 copy off of eBay. I never got to play these games when I was a kid (too young to buy M rated games when this came out) so I'm hyped I finally get to play. Only 3 hours in but the port seems good. No glitches. I haven't been able to get the Xbox 1 controller to work though. Playing on a keyboard isn't bad.

I have played every Silent Hill by Team Silent except the Room. That changed today as I finished my first playthrough and I gotta say, this is hands down my favorite of the series. Combat. Just like every Silent Hill, the combat isn't anything special. Though there is a new charge attack that grants you brief invincibility when fully charged and does a lot of damage. It is very useful for crowd control and knocking enemies down. Controls Every Silent hill I played I used a controller, so this was my first time using mouse and keyboard. Only problem I had was turning and maybe scrolling through inventory, but if anything it added to my experience. Situations got more intense. Story Every little detail and lore was exactly what you expect from Silent Hill. I especially loved how everything came together in the end. Really enjoyed the antagonist as well, very well written. The Escort Listen, I absolutely and I mean ABSOLUTELY hate escort missions. So know this, the second half of Silent Hill 4 is an escort mission where depending on how well you protected your companion can determine your ending. That being said, I never felt like it was too hard and it added a layer of tension. Overall If you haven't played Silent Hill 4 it is definitely worth checking out. Though the second half can really make it or break it for some, I'd say push through it because what lies beneath is in my opinion the last great Silent Hill.
